Still think it's theatrical, but I guess I'm not ruling out otherwise. After all it is a hazy memory from my distant past, and I could be wrong.

Further to Bat's remarks above, it's not inconceivable that there could be a theatrical movie made of the same story, earlier produced in a TV episode, or vice versa, or a TV episode released for theatrical showing. For example Walt Disney's TV two-part production of Young Dick Turpin was later released as one movie for theatrical showing.
I note that an episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents (season 5 ep 13 ""An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge") was made into a movie. A French version directed by Robert Enrico and produced by Marcel Ichac and Paul de Roubaix, was released in 1963. I've seen this version in a cinema, but I've never seen the earlier TV version.

Sorry I can’t be much help (I like westerns, but I’m not too well-versed in the less famous ones), but one source you may want to check is Mike Grost’s “Classic Film and Television” site, especially this page on TV westerns. (Even if it’s not TV, Grost classifies by director, and there’s a lot of crossover between TV western directors and b-movie western directors.) Wild guess, but you may also want to look into Joseph L. Lewis’ filmography (Grost has a lengthy article on Lewis’ work)—he put a lot of mystery/detective work material into his westerns, along with material about identity.

I've been through your great suggestions at some length Nalkarj . Zilch. Not a whisper of the movie I'm looking for. Grrr!!. Further suggestions would be mightily welcome. Many of your programmes of the same ilk are not received here, ergo not known.

When did you see it ?
Did you see it on the screen in a theater or on the television ?
No other details come back to you yet ?
You seemed SURE that it was a "B-Western and now it looks like it could be anything !

Definitely a B&W western BATouttaheckI still think it's a theatrical movie. TV is only a secondary thought, as I watched very little TV when young, and westerns were not up front in my scant viewing. And only in the late fifties, before then...no TV...just radio and cinema. From 1959-1970 I saw no TV at all. One exception. The soccer World Cup final 1966. But I was an avid cinema-goer. In the late 40s and 50s we had Saturday morning cinema matinees for kids. A western was most times on the programme. www.1900s.org.uk/1940s50s-sat-m-pics.htmDuring the fifties most adult cinemas in the UK carried double feature shows. A main movie, a B-movie, and usually a news feature too. So it's odds on I saw this movie at a cinema.

I have checked in depth all relevant US TV anthologies which aired westerns during the period 1950-1960 and which are listed on the Wiki list of American television programs... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_American_television_programs#H...and on IMDb. There are obviously episodes for which summaries or info is unavailable, but apart from those unlikely possibles...zilch! So TV is out...period!

I'm sure this movie is out there somewhere. Further (clean) suggestions welcome. BUT please understand... " I remember seeing a B&W western mystery years ago. There were two main adversaries, one dressed in white, the other black. The mystery was which one was the evil one? Can't remember the name of the movie, the stars, or the outcome", This is really VERY little information to narrow it down by and who knows it it's even available anywhere for viewing ?
It's like the request we had for "a book with a dragon on the cover" which eventually got detailed as a "paperback book with a dragon on the cover"

BTW. - Before anyone suggests spaghetti westerns, I never watch them, never have, and never will. Besides they started too late for this mystery western.

BTW. - Before anyone suggests spaghetti westerns, I never watch them, never have, and never will. Besides they started too late for this mystery western. Never would have entered my mind and I doubt that it would ever have entered any one else's mind. either. They don't fit a single one of the many details presented in the OP.

Boy meets girl. Boy loses girl.
Don't remember if they get back together
It was in black and white. Maybe I saw it in the theater Don't remember if it was new or old when I saw it. Don't remember when I saw it.
<sigh>
