Aaah but did they write it while having a brief affair Not a track (i don't think) I know, and not two artists I'd listen too, but interesting OLAS is not the only example. Thanks. Sure there must be more.

The Teardrop Explodes - "Books"
Echo & the Bunnymen - "Read it in Books"
written by McCulloch and Cope, admittedly they were briefly in a previous band together

A great OP pick for a thread. FB3 version every time. What a super sound. I bought the 12" and on the other side it had an extended cut with some dub/rap stuff by Neville or Lynval going on and a vocal-only intro with the percussion easing in to kick start the track with choppy guitar licks and all sorts. Very good indeed. I lost the disc but the track lives on...in fact here it is. And I never even noticed the FB3 song was produced by David Byrne.

The Go-Go's rock'in it, that prolonged bass sustain is music to me ears, the pause is everything as it adds to the jarring swing of the rhythmic pendulum (to paraphrase Creedence Clearwater Revival), they're like the Harold Pinters of music and nobody does it better (that cymbal work, damn - later, explicitly homaged by my favourite band, Throwing Muses).
Speaking of which, there's no English bands I like more than these 2 sister bands, here performing their interlinked sister songs ...
'Lipstick' - Buzzcocks
'Shot By Both Sides' - Magazine
Now these, I can't possible divide ...

Hey, I'd forgotten about this version. It was the third track on the 12" disc I bought. Super to hear it again after many years
