First, let me say I'm only an occasional watcher of the show, so there's many episodes I haven't seen. During the 6th season there was a character called Alex, played by Margo Harshman. She was Sheldon's assistant in just 4 episodes, then disappeared. Did they ever explain what happened to the character?

Here's what the wiki fandom site has to say about her: bigbangtheory.fandom.com/wiki/Alex_Jensen"Alex has made no appearances after Season 6 and no mention of her fate, thus it's unclear what became of Alex after her last appearance, and it's also unknown if she resigned, was fired from being Sheldon's assistant or moved on."Looks as if she went out with a whimper and not a bang.

A similar thing happened with Leonard's girlfriend Dr. Stephanie Barnett (Sara Rue). Leonard broke up with her via text and told Howard and Raj that it was over, but then immediately got a text back from her (presumably inviting him to have sex) and Leonard says: "I was wrong" and bolts out to go be with her. And then we never see or hear about her again.
