He admits that Justice League (2017) didn't work.
“The cape is in the closet,” Cavill says. “It’s still mine… I’ve not given up the role. There’s a lot I have to give for Superman yet. A lot of storytelling to do. A lot of real, true depths to the honesty of the character I want to get into. I want to reflect the comic books. That’s important to me. There’s a lot of justice to be done for Superman. The status is: You’ll see.”
While I sincerely doubt that WB are interested at all, I'd be fine with Cavill returning to the DCEU playing an older seasoned Superman. Especially if someone like Matthew Vaughn or Christopher McQuarrie was involved.

Love those comments. Really seems like he is invested in the Superman character and wants to see himself redeemed from Justice League. My dream series of events now would be that WB immediatley releases the Snyder cut. They announce a Man of Steel 2 movie with Zack Snyder directing and start production asap. Bring back Jesse Eisenberg as Lex (I know he is unpopular but I still dig him) and have the impending arrival of Darkseid storyline and fulfil Flashes prophetic vision! I would be 10x more excited for that then anything DC have upcoming whether it be the Birds of Prey movie, The Batman with Pattison or SS2 from James Gunn.

I can honestly deal without the Snyder-verse connections. Certainly not wanting anything else to do with Lex Zuckerberg. Save Darkseid for future movies. In the meantime, branch out and use new foes. Superman has more cooler enemies than just Lex Luthor.

We need a new start and Henry is wasting his time on this version of the character. If there needs to be a new start for characters like Superman and Batman, they might as well go all the way and do the same for characters like Wonder Woman and Aquaman.

I want him to continue being Superman too. He was good in that role and they (WB) should not give up on him in that role. They just need a new director and a good script.

I really hope he does continue because he has a lot of potential they just haven't tapped in to. I agree. But unfortunately it’s WB’s call. I think Christopher McQuarrie came up with an idea for both Superman and Green Lantern, they said no. They mess up and get skittish instead of learning from their mistakes, it’s ridiculous. |

I’d argue that Man of Steel kind of did make Superman relevant again, just not necessarily in the way that they may have intended. People had quite a number of passionate debates about it back in the day.

They need to reboot. Cavill was wrong for the role. That's not going to change. We have seen 3 films with him as Superman.
But I would rather have him play Superman again than see Robert Pattinson as Batman. Pattinson? That's a movie I will never watch. You may as well cast a female as Batman.
