oh ok good. I hope you enjoy your holiday We celebrate Thanksgiving in October, I remember in the US getting sick to death of turkey, now here in Canada its far enough apart that turkey is acceptable. Have a happy thanksgiving. ohh you’re Canada. I like turkey but some years we don’t even have it or have brisket instead

My mom used to make one annually, about a month or so ahead of Christmas, which she'd store in a tin wrapped in a brandy-soaked cheesecloth. Quite tasty. Properly made they can be yummy, but I don't go for the commercial bricks overladen with candied fruit that all tastes monotonously the same. If I do a store-bought, I tend to prefer panettone as well.

I like fruitcake... It amazes me that so many people think that no one does... If no one did, then why is still made and sold? A gag gift? Seems unlikely that food companies would continue to make it, if no one actually ate it. My oldest brother and I traded the same fruitcake back and forth every year for about 10 years. We would keep it in the freezer for the year.

I don't particularly care for the in a can heavy fruitcake, but I do like Panettone, which is a lighter sort of fruitcake. fruitcake in a can??? I can't imagine! We used to get canned fruitcake in army rations.
