Fred Cox - former Minnesota Vikings kicker and inventor of the Nerf football has passed away. RIP. Did you have a version of Nerf growing up? I had his FB card from the 70's but I didn't know he invented the Nerf Football.
Heh heh heh, you said "Cox". heh heh heh heh heh

To answer the question, I didn't have one. I did go through a few Nerf soccer balls, so we wouldn't kill one another as 6yr olds.

I had one. I used my sister for target practice to increase my accuracy. Man, she used to hate that.
Fred Cox was an icon for Vikings' football during the Superbowl era. Sadly what I remember him most for was missing a 17 yard FG against the 72' Dolphins that would of ended their perfect season in the 3rd game of the season.
RIP

RIP One of the underrated things about a Nerf ball, if you had a younger sister who was pissing you off, you could nail her with a Nerf. Send a message without really hurting her. Mom would get mad and I could say "hey, it's just a Nerf ball". 😏

I had a NERF football, a NERF soccer-ball, and... I also had a Turbo but my dog got a hold of it and tore it up.My dog chewed up my NERF Baseball into what seemed like a 1000 pieces, and those pieces were all over the floor... Thankfully, she didn't try to eat the hard rubber core. She could have choked on that.

If I'm not mistaken, he was in the last wave of the "old school" kickers who kicked straight-on, and did not use the newer 'soccer-style' approach, which has since become the standard. I'm curious who was the absolute last of the straight-on kickers to retire in the NFL, still kicking that way......anybody happen to know ?? SAVE FERRIS I think Mark Mosely kicked straight on but not sure if he was the last. He was the last. Retired after the 1986 season. Anyone want to take a stab at what his last game was?
