WTF? Ric Ocasek didn't sing that? I don't even KNOW you, The Cars!! And this guy was cute. OMG, Wikipedia says he died 19 years ago. Jaysus, I guess popular music news in the States was too busy asking Christina or Britney right then. Awww, he was so dreamy, like Jordan Catalano before Jordan Catalano.

All the women loved Benjamin Orr. And Ric ends up with a supermodel. It's good to be a Rock star.

I was in elementary school by the time "You Might Think" and "Drive" came out, but Ric Ocasek was always on all their promo stuff that I saw. I've never even seen Orr's face; I would've remembered it. Now they're both gone. Their music is really great, it's feel-good, fun music. "Just What I Needed" was playing on an Alternative Rock station when I was out running errands before I posted this, still awesome!

Agreed. "You Might Think", "Drive", "Magic" and "Just What I Needed" are all mainstays on my playlists.
In fact, listening to my iPod one night, "Drive" came on. Of course, I had to pull up the video for this song, so I pulled it up on my iPad (because I have the YouTube app).
Yes - I still have (and regularly use) an iPod. WHAT OF IT?!

I remember seeing the videos to "You Might Think" and "Magic." I loved "Drive". It was one of my favorite songs as a kid, and still remains one of my favorite songs. I always thought Ric sang all the songs, and a few years ago I had a live Cars clip pop up in my YouTube recommendations, so I clicked on it. I saw that Orr was doing the singing, so I dug a little deeper and found that he sang most of my favorite Cars songs.

Orr was also lead vocals on Moving In Stereo. My favorite of theirs. Judge Reinhold's too, I think.

Benjamin Orr was an awesome singer dianachristensen and as a big fan of his I have to ask if you have listened to his solo album, 'The Lace' 'cause if not and you like his songs with the Cars you should check it out. It is one of my favourite albums of all time (and I will include some songs from it below) and it is a shame he passed away when he was still young and he was working on a second solo album that sadly didn't get released but some of the songs that were going to be on that album have been released online including one at the bottom called 'I'm Comin' Home Tonight' which I am surprised they didn't include on the last Cars album 'cause it sounds like a Cars song.

Oh, wow. What a gift, thank you. I have to let these play and then return to this thread and all the wonderful replies here. Orr was rockin' that glam look, huh? He was a dream.

I have a 2005 iPod, the little skinny one that's bigger than the Shuffle but smaller than the big one. Nano! That's it. I think it's at my mom's place, or in her car. It has some great songs on it, but not The Cars. I get lucky and hear a lot of their songs in my car on FM radio. That's right, FM radio. What of it?

Your post could have been plucked from my brain, except for the part where you say "a few years ago", that would be swapped out for a couple/few weeks ago, for me.

I am a big music fan as some members on here might already know and I like a lot of different artists and bands of different genres especially Rock and Country. Do you like any AOR artists or bands like Journey, Heart, Toto, Foreigner, Pat Benatar and Styx 'cause there are a lot of new bands from Europe that have started playing that style again instead of Modern Rock and are releasing a lot of albums like Work of Art, H.E.A.T., Brother Firetribe, State Cows, Issa, Miss Behaviour, Sonic Station and Eclipse. This is Work of Art.
