Violent, well acted film about a group of outlaws wanting to do one final job and then retire, I usually don't like the use of slow motion in films but this one does it remarkably well, the practical effects are often extraordinary (I am sure PETA lost their minds with this film) and the final showdown is incredible. 8/10

I've only watched this once and found it a bit of a struggle to watch through to the ending. But what an ending!

It had to be the best western ever in my opinion. It has a little bit of everything going for it, and then to top it off it has the absolute best fight scene and ending that a movie could possibly have!

6/10 – has great moments, nicely filmed, but marred by Peckinpaugh's adolescent fascination with violence, which he imparted to Tarantino.

I wasn't a fan. 5/10 (I would have said 6 but the insect scene at the start and the heavy-handed vulture symbolism at the end made me remove a point). I prefer spaghetti westerns for the gritty characters--their social commentary tended to be less in your face.
