I hardly played any videogames back then, but I do remember playing an X Files game on the pc. It was a point and click game and me and my sister loved it.

Sensible World of Soccer (aka. SWOS, Sensible Soccer) [Amiga version is superior to Windows version, which makes a shame that GOG doesn't also provide that option of legally owning the Amiga ROM. There is also a Five-A-Side SWOS-like soccer game that always seemed cool but never played it much. It later became free, but the version they give on Amiga Forever is some stupid test version that crashes.] Deluxe Galaga [Shareware game on the Amiga, which in those days actually meant that it could be freely shared without limitations; was remade as Warblade for the PC, and it's still one helluva addictive game. The programmer died a year or so ago which makes purchasing it a bit difficult to buy legally from his webpage without emailing them after buying. It is the only game on his site that isn't insanely overpriced.] Worms [IMO, it was graphically superior to the later games. The worms had more character, they weren't just bulgy mono-colored kids things, and even the deaths looked more amusing somehow.] Another World & Flashback [Amiga] Secret of Monkey Island 1 & 2 [Amiga] and Curse of Monkey Island [PC] Forsaken [PC, seems to be open source and freely available now. It's a Desent clone but I never could get into Descent.]
I missed out on most late '90s game at the time and I haven't found the time to give many a go.

Man, too many to name on the SNES. I loved Square and Enix's RPGs, as well as many Nintendo-produced games like Link to the Past.

Worms [IMO, it was graphically superior to the later games. The worms had more character, they weren't just bulgy mono-colored kids things, and even the deaths looked more amusing somehow.] Couldn't agree more. Worms 2 tried to make the worms appear super cute but it felt really forced and as a result they became just obnoxious. I didn't like any of the sequels. The original classic still holds up well. Prince of Persia (PC DOS version) would get my vote for the best video game ever since no other game has ever addicted me quite the same way. Full of classic moments like the magic mirror, trying to jump over a far too wide chasm, duel against the fat guard or first seeing the steel jaws. I had a friend who honestly was so terrified by them that he asked me to play all the corridors there the prince would have to jump through them. Stunts was another game I played like crazy. Hard Drivin' had been a big arcade hit and this was a sort of ripoff from that, except that you could do your own tracks with a simple track editor which was a lot of fun. Wolfenstein 3D was another favorite back then and the first "adult" game I played. Wolf3D hasn't aged well though because of very repetitive level design and lack of automapping. I still love some classic moments like black-robed wizard Hitler drifting through walls and throwing fireballs at you. Seriously wtf moment.

My favorites were mostly mid-late 1990s Nintendo 64 era games, such as GoldenEye 007, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (I also really liked its sequel, Majora's Mask), Super Mario 64, and Mario Kart. I played a pretty large number of other N64 games, as well, and they were usually good. I can't quite remember as well most of the games I've played prior to around 1997-1998 (and I was born in '89), but I played quite a few Sega Genesis games before owning the Nintendo 64.

Far too big a topic. The '90s were the golden decade of video games. I cannot begin to list the ones I played the most back then, but I can list a few titles I still play now and then. In no particular order: Lands of Lore Might & Magic VI & VII Civilization II Monkey Island 1&2 UFO: Enemy Unknown XCom: Terror From the Deep Prince of Persia 2 (I'd list the first one, but that came out in '89) Various Sierra titles Heroes of Might & Magic II & III (the third instalment holds up extremely well) Gabriel Knight 1 ADOM Etc. ... Man, I didn't realise I had so much time on my hands

The SNES/Genesis/Game Boy/Game Gear/Lynx/etc. generation of the early 90s, and the PS1/N64/Saturn/3D0 generation had so many great games that I recall playing that I loved! Where do I effing begin to say all my favorites? Also played some games on PC, that I loved as well. It's almost too great of an effort to try to post all my fav 1990s games, but some examples:
Sim City 2000 Sim City 3000(preferred this a tad, over 2000) Super Mario World Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island Super Mario Bros. 3(it came out in February 1990 for NES per a search I did, so I'll throw it onto this list) Killer Instinct Pilotwings(SNES) Pilotwings 64(I preferred this on N64, over the SNES one. though the one on SNES was also fun) Vectorman 1 Doom Wolfenstein 3D Donkey Kong Country 1 DKC 2 F-Zero X(N64) Bomberman Hero(N64) Virtua Cop Time Crisis Super Mario Kart 64
List goes on, and on, AND continuously on! I don't think any decade will ever top the 1990s, for gaming! Though the 2000s come as a good honorable mention of another decade with gaming that came close to how great the 90s were, and sadly the 2010s haven't been as good for gaming.
