I don't know everything, nor do I claim to, but I know one thing for sure..... If you say something bad about Lamar Jackson, you better be prepared to throw down, because Joe Tessitore will BEAT THE CRAP OUT OF YOU! If you even dare to discuss Lamar Jackson without drool emitting from your mouth, get ready cuz Joe Tessitore is GONNA KICK YOUR SORRY DISBELIEVING ASS!!! YOU GOT THAT??? Joe Tessitore is in love......and you better DAMN WELL TAKE IT SERIOUSLY!!! It's a corporate mandate from ESPN. They treat broadcasting like a drug. Hype up the stars beyond reality and the people will have to watch! Watch a Dallas Mavericks game on ESPN and try not to laugh as the announcers slobber all over Luka Doncic. They get animated as he dribbles the ball up the court, doing nothing in particular.

" Doncic brings the ball into the frontcourt, what an unbelievable player! Quick pass over to schmuck #8." They treat every movement the guy makes like it.. like it deserves italic font. It's over the top and it feels so forced. There's no need to spend the entire broadcast fawning over him, his play will speak for itself.

The Ravens are just slicing and dicing the Rams, it’s been a total domination, Ravens lead it 28-6 just before halftime, the Rams are just getting shredded, their defense is garbage and their offense isn’t nearly as potent as it was in 2018. By the time I remembered MNF was on to check it out it was like 150-3 in the 4th. You know the team has got it when they put in RG3.

The other part of it that annoys me is can't they wait till a guy does it in a truly meaningful game before they start the circle jerk? Lamar Jackson and Luka Donic are really good players who are both currently playing out of their minds right now. That's great, but talk to me come playoff time and let's see what happens. I'm a Chargers fan who remembers how Lamar Jackson played in the playoffs last year. All I'm saying is let's not label him a Hall of Famer just yet. Plus, with ESPN I always feel there is another angle to this, a sleazier one just below the surface. Jackson is a black quarterback and Donic is a white basketball player, wouldn't surprise me in the least if race is a factor in the exaggerated slurping. Race seems to be a big deal at ESPN.

I don't know if their race is relevant, and I understand the value of hype if you're selling a product (the respective leagues), but can't it come organically? By all means slurp them when they make a great play. But stop treating every mundane play they make as the greatest thing in the history of the sport. Yikes, I just had a scary thought. What if the agenda isn't to hype the player or the league; what if ESPN just thinks that's the way you have to announce to keep the audience involved in the handheld social media device age? God, I feel old all of the sudden.
