That explains why we haven't had a trailer given the movie was originally slated to be released four months from now.

I just realized that the movie began principal photography in November 2018. That’s a two year gap between when filming started and when the movie is scheduled to be released. If they end up doing some massive reshoots, they might have to explain why Millie Bobbie Brown’s character suddenly looks a lot older.

That's not surprising Godzilla was the only one of the 3 Monsterverse movies that only took about a year or so to be released after filming started, heavy CGI work dictates this, Kong took close to 2 years from start of principal photography and it's release, Godzilla KOM took 18 months or so.
Time more so than money is a key to the CGI being just right, look at Justice League all the money in the world and millions spent but so little time to render the CGI and Henry Cavil ended up with baby mouth.
Also this has been rumoured since I think the week after KOM released that the studio may push back the release so they could tweak the movie, which I think I heard at one point was basically less humans more monsters, because that's what people go to a Kaiju movie wanting to see, though we always end up with humans taking up most of the run time...puny humans I paid to see a big monkey and a big lizard beat the shit out of each other, screw you with your existential crisis and family drama, where's the big radioactive super dinosaur?
