it isnt my fault they chose to play such a transparent veneer of terribly uplifting music for the trailer, complementing smiley stonefaced actresses hiding bad acting behind elegant British accents. The movie does a disservice to what is probably otherwise a pillar of classic English literature. And its english ya moron, not american. Funny how none of this was even hinted at in your opening post, which was just you whining about politics in complete ignorance of the source material.
And by the way, moron: it is an American novel set in America, with no British accents anywhere to be heard. You didn't even watch it, did you? Or are you just brain damaged?
No I was "whinig" (or even winning) about the glossy sappy "yay women!" feel of it and trying to stifle my laughter at how ridiculous the movie looked, and how much i DONT want to see it.

She kept racoons, but by all accounts, kept them well.

I like the Winona version and the story. This one does look interesting for a comparison, but what bothers me, it looks like it is pushing too much of a *Greta Gerwig* agenda. I agree with what you said with only one modification made to it.

I agree with what you said with only one modification made to it. Well, we know Greta is woke and has her own take on what feminism is, but it is an ideal never clearly defined anyway. She is very talented though and the film does look quite exquisite. I just hope she doesn't lose her audience due to any Gerwiggeist.
Now that I have just finished season 3 of Walking Dead, I am going to watch Ryder's version this evening for a recap.
I'm not trying to make a relevant comparison right here, but if someone thinks on remaking Thelma & Louise, I hope they fling themselves into the Grand Canyon instead.

Yes get THeron (or some younger version like maybe that funky chick from Ghostbusters II or idk) and Dakota Johnson, boom done. Theron could work as Louise, but it would need to be another top notch A lister to pull off Thelma. In today's millennial woke age, would there be as many women as dopey and desperate as Thelma was at the start? It would take a humorously deft self-deprecating approach to make her believable and real. Sarandon was already a fine established actress and Davis was still relatively new on the scene, but already had an Oscar under her belt. Hmmmmm! Perhaps Margot Robbie.
I had Dakota johnson for Thelma but the age differential would be too big then. Maybe they could spin it like she's her niece or something. Or get kristen's wiig Or rose Byrne

I walked out after about 90 minutes it was unbearable for me. thats my second or third walk out this year but this one suprrise e because i like most of the people that were in the movie bit all the girls seemd incredibly annyoing and spoilt and self centered and watching them was similarly disgusting to me as watching the gilrs in Hustlers even though these girls were much better of course on all levels, they irritated me just as much for some reason. and both of these movies are up for some awards.... well cant please everyone wth everything. Uncut Gems forever.

Uncut Gems forever. There is a fair bit of frivolity going on in the Little Women tale. I won’t get an opportunity to see this new one until well into January. By then I may change my mind, due to more reports on it. You gave it 90mins Nora, but you only had half hour to go. Perhaps if you had stayed for the whole. I watched the Ryder version a couple of weeks ago from 94’ directed by Australian Gillian Armstrong. I had seen before and while it chronicles a middle class family and is feminine drenched, it was still nice to look at and listen too. I also didn’t feel like I was being preached too about how hard women had it, especially since it is set at the end of the Civil War and males had just been largely slaughtered over political ideals and agendas. Gerwig may be a bit heavy handed. I really couldnt it was simply too annoying. All of them. Couldnt take it anymore.

I really couldnt it was simply too annoying. All of them. Couldnt take it anymore. Well, your comments have been very interesting. I suspected it may have some issues and I look forward to what you have to say on films. It has a strong score on IMDB and there are some very glowing reviews, some not so glowing and some that make some interesting constructive criticisms as a whole but still find virtue in the film. I am actually interested in what males have to say about the film, and I think several of the reviews I read were from females and a few found fault with it.
I myself can enjoy a nice period piece but the story is a familiar and popular Gerwig going for something that is timeworn does not exactly give her much credence in the originality department. The costumes look terrific and the casting interesting so that would be the main drawcard. I might just have a "problem" with Gerwigs movies. I didnt really love Lady Bird and believe me it takes a lot for me to walk out on Emma Watson whom I, as you know, adore looking at. But it just didnt click. I think its a well made movie, just not for me.

But it just didnt click. I think its a well made movie, just not for me. I didn't like Lady Bird much at all. I only went due to all the inexplicable hype and it certainly wasn't worthy of Gerwig being nominated for best director, especially with more worthy films that year. It was just the typical female pandering thing in Hollywood here.
May I ask, do you view many period detailed films nora? These era films are not the cup of tea for many, unless chronicling a large historic figure.
I see everything that comes out so yes, I see all the period movies that come out. They are not my absolute favorite but I have taken a liking to quite a few. I loved the Favorite for example. There must be some humor or sexiness to it, and here I found none of that plus the girls came across as too spoilt without the script or director really admitting it.
