Naturally, such a recent release isn't truly a revisit, though my first home viewing was merely weeks ago (I listened to the blu commentary first thing instead of the movie proper upon release). Most of all for me was how pleasantly surprised how much of a true bookend, genuine landing of the MCU/Infinity Saga EG actually was. I was quite lukewarm about it being another bridging Avengers film, leading to the future which I'm not really jazzed about yet. Alas, just like a film like Harry Potter Deathly Hallows 2 or The Dark Knight Rises, there's no more tension to create - it's all about payoffs & emotional exhalations. Which is why it's not at the top of my list either - those chapters in any book or film simply cannot compete dramatically for my pleasure &/or imagination. Best of all for EG was its performances... it could've been a walk in the park for everyone, & yet they still deliver fine performances to keep me engaged. Really loved Scott Lang & Steve Rogers here... with the post-vanishing societal stuff & seeing about making things 'right' again. While no one else really stood out for me, I'm glad there weren't any letdowns either... even bro Thor works because, well, he failed to save half the f'ing universe. I do prefer IW's greater characterizations, even Thanos in this movie isn't given a whole lot to do. Thanos-CA-IM-Thor on the battlefield is a tremendous MCU payoff in of itself, never mind the fight action or who wins/loses. The Avengers assembling couldn't have been better - they wrote it not as a surprise, rather as a tidal wave of how far we've come. So yeah... still fresh for the masses, a couple years I'll go through my favs monthly re-watches again... see how they've aged & which angles which turn out. My MCU favs: 1. Avengers: Age of Ultron 2. Avengers: Infinity War 3. Captain America: Civil War 4. Avengers: Endgame 5. Captain America: The First Avenger 6. The Avengers 7. Thor: Ragnarok 8. Guardians of the Galaxy 9. Ant-Man 10.Iron Man Winter Solider & Black Panther while very good, simply don't land in my MCU Infinity lane. It's funny, just like comic books, they made it simple to follow along without inhaling every last volume. 10 films makes a nice ideal round number for my MCU enjoyment. Shoutout theandrewkwan.tumblr.com/post/186796882234/my-final-minimalist-poster-series-the-mcu for the poster images.

You need to take this down. This place is getting infested with MCU haters, including one utter shit of a human being who said that most MCU fans haven't heard of Holocaust and I don't want this thread to suffer the same fate.

I'll get in there early..."it's a kiddie film"
And by that I mean it made me feel like a great big kid while watching it. It was like going back to when I was a nipper pouring over Marvel splash pages for an age, or sitting wide-eyed in front of my first Harryhausen film. If that is what makes a kiddie film I'm all for it. Sometimes I go to the cinema just to escape and be entertained, and Endgame delivered just that.

Had a number of issues with it (Hulk basically turning into a neutered pussy, Thor being fat and the time travel elements) but Cap picking up Thor's hammer & throwing it at Thanos was dope at least.

Yeah, it did feel less complex & mysterious, with it layering its rewards & payoffs. During the NYC sequences, my guard was fully let down... it fully became a crowd pleaser. Side - my fav moment of the movie & top 10 of the saga, was Tony handing the shield to Steve. That was f'n boss & I was moved in a nostalgic way - which is crazy considering how little time. One of my fav things I caught via commentary - the door to Peggy's home is still ajar, Steve had just run in to see her. Which works better than them seemingly endlessly dancing which I first went to.

I'm not sure what that means. Block the children, let them play in their imaginary sandboxes.

As for this, I wouldn't exactly call it a "film", but more of a culmination of films. It's not exactly something that is easy to understand unless you've seen all 21 Infinity Saga films that came before. In some ways, I would even say that it surpassed films because, on its own, it could be rather underwhelming, but if you judge it as the finale of Infinity Saga, then it could actually be one of, if not THE best moments in cinema history.

i liked the first hour, i thought to myself mcu finally made a mature film, i was wrong, it went downhill quickly, though it did have decent closure for white males Tony and Steve, a good end point for a permanent break-up with the mcu

How can a kids show have more depth and nuance than an MCU movie like endgame? A lot of people who have been rewatching it on Disney+ didn't realize how well it stands up because unlike MCU, the show was made for kids but in a mature way

And this is exactly why I wanted this thread to be taken down. You seem to think that video you've posted automatically makes MCU bad just because it says that X-Men animated series is deeper than this person thought and trying to use that as an excuse to put down MCU fans.

Xmen TAS series was deep like the comics even if on the surface it appeared silly because they were walking around in bright coloured costumes. The depth of story made you not care about the silliness of the visuals. The movies removed the colourful visuals but kept the substance and gravity of the stories. MCU has done the opposite; theyve dumbed down the stories and kept the colourful motifs. Bud is implying that we were all kids when we got into comic characters so the movies should remember that. I wonder why then he still likes the mcu and hates the xmen because hes not a kid anymore, bright visuals and derivative weak stories should not cut it anymore surely lol

Yes, I love the animated series. I became a fan as a child because of that series. The Fox-Men movies never came close to realizing that same potential. The MCU has it's fair share of maturity. If you can't see even some of that, you're watching it with very biased and closed eyes.
I don't know how many times I have to say this to you, but not every comic book film needs to be like Logan or DOFP. Not every comic book I read was dark like that when I was growing up. I have a stack of Avengers comics from the 80s. Many were light and action packed. Watching the MCU films is like watching THOSE comic books come to life.
Constant darkness and serious maturity is for someone like you. In that case, go ahead and get comfy in your dark cellar and enjoy Joker. That's your cup of tea. But there is a wide variety of source material out there. The MCU just chooses to adapt one type over another. The type that appeals to a wider audience that also enables a greater level of success. If they had taken the Fox route, it would have led to an early grave.
And for the record, I never said I hated the X-Men films. I just thought they could have done so much more with the property. 20 years and they never seemed to move past the level of X2.
I honestly don't know why you came back here. Did you expect things to change? Strange how all of the trolls showed back up at once (summers8 and you at the same time, hmmm).

We are on a post about Endgame revisited and Endgame never reached the level of DOFP? How do you recon that? We have to watch Xavier from DOFP to remind ourselves fat thor is just a child's thing and it is not the way to handle depression. We have to watch Magneto'speech and deal with human politics in DOFP to remind ourselves not every superhero final acts of comic movies have to have big battle cgi that is more of an animation. X-Men movies never reached the depth of TAS but Endgame has never reached the depth of an awesome X-men movie. Besides, TAS is a TV series.

Do you not realize how retarded... never mind, because this is not even the most retarded thing you've ever said here!
