Now that the hype has died down. Do you think Endgame was worthy of being the movie to surpass Avatar?
There's not many movies that have claimed the #1 position, Jaws, Star Wars, E.T, Jurassic Park, Titanic and Avatar.
Most of those are historically and culturally significant. Groundbreaking movies that changed how movies were made from then on.
Even Avatar which wasn't a great movie, pushed 3D to such a extent that it caused the overseas boom and the biggest box office surge in decades.
Endgame is the only sequel to have pulled this off. Does it deserve to be #1?

As someone who really didn't like Endgame, I going to say yes.

I believe it deserved to be bigger than Avatar, because it was indeed bigger and better than Avatar. However, I believe the biggest movie of all time is supposed to be Infinity War.

Amongst those that have also achieved it then probably not but if any movie was going to pass Avatar then I guess the climax of a 20+ movie arc in the most popular movie series is worthy enough.

. Deserving got nothing to do with it. Audiences are just fickle creatures.

Agreed, Endgame was good no doubt but IW had a much tighter and better story. Only thing that kinda bored me was making Storm-breaker

Endgame gets a lot of hate for getting release 2 times just to beat Avatar.

It was still in theaters when the extra scenes were added. Beside that... Avatar also had a second release (a real one) and Endgame beat both the first release of Avatar and its second one with both their first and so called second release. But Im used to you not telling the complete story so it fits your narrative. Must be good to be living in bla bla land.

Does it? So how do these people feel about Avatar doing a "special edition" re-release near the end of it's initial run?

Small no. Just because it’s the highest grossing movie of all time doesn’t mean it’s the “biggest movie of all time”

Endgame gets a lot of hate for getting release 2 times just to beat Avatar. Anyone who hates a movie because of that has severe psychological problems. No doubt, the folks who saw Endgame during the re-release were happy the movie had returned to their theaters.

Endgame is the conclusion of more than 20 movies. Does not mean it deserves biggest movie. Endgame was a terrible conclusion to so much hard work. Such a wasted opportunity. Infinity War was wonderful. Endgame was just plain rubbish.

Does it deserve to be #1? Avatar was dumb. It didn't deserve to be #1 in the first place but it came at the peak of a 3D craze and had James Cameron's name on it. Endgame is the epic conclusion to a 23 movie saga told over a decade and delivered on all fronts.
Endgame was just plain rubbish.
