why does the wife say she wants drugs when they are having sex? I thought she was just mockingly pretending to be the drug addicted girlfriend/hookup of the fired driver whose underwear they both believed she was wearing. The way she was saying it didn't seem too serious to me and didn't appear to be linked to any other plot element. may be... that was one scene that really didn’t make sense to me...

They were role-playing with the wife as the limo driver's presumed drugged out lady friend. That's why the husband asked if she still had the "cheap panties" and for her to wear them.
What I'm curious about is the meaning of the scene. They, especially the husband, looked down on the poor, so why imitate them during sex? Maybe it was symbolic of how they exploit the poor. Or maybe it was to show that just as the poor family envies their lifestyle, the rich couple finds cheap thrills in doing the same vice versa.

Yeah can't really shed any more light on why it was included. Maybe just what moviebuffbrad mentioned.

why does the wife say she wants drugs when they are having sex? in one video i heard that it should mean the husband has been drugging her. why would he do that is that shown in the film anywhere else? also did you consider that sex scene as weird on its own? I thought she was just role playing, like it'd be something taboo to say while they're frisky. Everywhere else in the film, she's a simple person - as she's described quite early on.

I thought the scene was kind of weird. I couldn’t tell if it was supposed to be funny or not, it just felt uncomfortable. and how did you understand her request for drugs? I thought they had discussed the driver having sex in the car & the whole drug thing came from that discussion. That it was naughty & bold.

its established shes a young trophy wife who gets bored very easily, so perhaps does that to pass the time while hes at work. you see so that’s not how it was understood by the reviewers I consulted first. They understood he has been intentionally drugging her. And maybe got her addicted. But even if that was the case her behavior to me didn’t signal anything like that. She seemed to be kind, present, caring...involved in her children’s education and hobbies etc... I thought she was an idiot. And the con artist family saw her as an easy mark. She hired the con artist family without doing any background checks. She fired their long time maid without even talking to her about her suspected tuberculosis.

I thought she was an idiot. And the con artist family saw her as an easy mark. She hired the con artist family without doing any background checks. She fired their long time maid without even talking to her about her suspected tuberculosis. I really didn't really like Parasite. I didn't find the tone of the black humour sharply satiric enough, just bizarre and shallow and whatever emotional impact the film strived for at the end, I just couldn't connect or buy into it. I didn't like any of the characters from either side of the family and they came across as caricatures to me. It was attempting to do something unusual\different and be original and I admire it for that aspect, but I feel it still ended up ultimately poorer than richer for the overall experience. One thing that struck me was, all the adults in the film were bad people. The con artist family were criminals. Lying, cheating, stealing and finally murder. The "victim" family adults - I already described the wife/mother. The husband fired their driver without even talking to him about the panties found in the car. I didn't really think he was an elitist bigot. He had the right to make judgements. But he never said anything insulting or offensive to the con artist family. They never would have even known his feelings if they weren't hiding illegally in his house. Yes, he was concerned about his son. And he had no concern for the daughter of the con artist family. But that really wasn't his concern. It was the con artist father's job to save his daughter. I agree a nice person would have been concerned about all the injured people. But the con artist father had the keys. He should have carried his daughter to the car to bring to the hospital with the rich family's son. I don't think the rich father would have objected. Maybe he was confused. A lot was happening all of a sudden. Many parents first go to their own children. And then what happens? The con artist father stabs the rich father, and flees selfishly to save himself. And leaves his own daughter to die !!! Even the fired maid's husband was a bad person. He was hiding illegally in the rich family's house stealing their food. Why? Because he owed money. And he didn't want to pay up. And his wife was no better. She was helping him. This is something I've complained about movies and TV shows before. Most of the time they're just about bad people doing bad things. ----- I really never bought the con artist family allowing the fired maid back in the house while the rich family was gone. With so much to hide, the normal response would have been, "I don't have the authority to make that decision. You'll have to wait until the owners get home."
