all this month TCM USA is showing pairs of early versions and remakes on Monday’s. Some of the Garth Game players might appreciate the chance to see these films that have turned up so often over the years.

You guys give me way too much credit. I don't possess EVERY film in the GG library ... just most of them.
The collection is woefully deficient in the vital area of Mongolian feature films.

You guys give me way too much credit. I don't possess EVERY film in the GG library ... just most of them. The collection is woefully deficient in the vital area of Mongolian feature films. You may not possess them all yet ... but you clearly have seen and memorized details of each cast and crew member and the entire script of every movie ever made.... anywhere. Not that there's anything wrong with that ! A timely sent letter to Santa may repair those gaps in the Mongolian section.

He was recalling his computer childhood. it has a real life link as well... It is the earliest song sung using computer speech synthesis by the IBM 7094 in 1961, a feat which was referenced in the film 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968). cool huh ?

HAL was also taught to read lips.
Astronauts Dave and Frank apparently forgot about that.

I wasn't clear at all. I meant to go down the alphabet from each letter. H becomes I, A becomes B, L becomes M. HAL --> IBM.

As a former employee of "Big Blue" there was always an in-joke among the techies; IBM used to manufacture a mainframe called the IBM 9000 series. HAL9000 follows the alphabetic H/I, A/B and lastly L/M. Nice coincidence.
