I think the maggots eat them quickly and the remaining feathers are scattered by the wind.

I think the maggots eat them quickly and the remaining feathers are scattered by the wind. That's beautiful. Well, the feathers in the wind part.

They get disintegrated and eventually recycled by the elements and other organisms.

I wish seagull's would die, since they have a tendency to shit on my windows.
Sadly all dead birds ought to be cremated. since they could be contaminted.
For romantics there might be a bird heaven of some sorts, and it helps a bit when a pet dies to think like that, I know.
WHERE ARE ALL THE DEAD BIRDS?, If they are rare, stuffed in museums.

It seems like many of them are in Wales... Hundreds of birds found dead on a north Wales road are to be tested to discover how they died. Around 300 starlings were discovered with blood on their bodies in a lane on Anglesey. Dafydd Edwards, whose partner found the birds, said it was as if "they had dropped down dead from the sky". The Animal and Plant Health Agency has collected them for testing, and will examine whether they could have been poisoned. Mr Edwards, 41, said his partner Hannah Stevens first saw the birds alive as she went to an appointment on Tuesday afternoon. "She said she saw hundreds of them flying over and thought it looked amazing but on her way back around an hour later they were all dead in the road. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-50741457

Only time I have seen dead birds was one stuck in the grate of a car--another was a dead crow lying on a road-and a dead seagull someone found on the street and brought into a classroom.
But it IS an excellent question because do the cats and raccoons eat all the feathers? There should be tons of dead bird feathers lying or floating around.
