With the signing of Hamels the Braves are all but guaranteed to be out of the Bumgarner sweepstakes. The rest of their money will get plugged into re-signing Donaldson or upgrading the OF. I think that if the Angels miss out of Cole or possibly even if they don't they end up with Bumgarner. Padres and White Sox might be in play too as the Padres are verging on being contenders and the White Sox seemingly are in on a lot of free agents and just missed out of Wheeler.

I honestly can't see Bumgarner going to another team in the NL West, he doesn't seem like that type. The Angels seem like a good spot, but MadBum loves hitting, so I'm still thinking either Giants, Philles, Braves, or maybe a surprise team like the Brewers or Cardinals.

Apparently the Giants aren't all that interested in bringing him back even though he's open to it according to an alert my phone got today. Before the Hamels signing I'd have favored Atlanta as well but they don't have the money to sign Hamels and Bumgarner unless they leave a giant hole in their line up. I just figure the Padres could be an option as they could give him the best offer and he could stay on the west coast if that's something he likes.

This canโt go on. The Sox canโt even sign a player for a measly 10,000,000, because itโs really 20,000,000. Theyโre losing draft picks which they canโt afford to lose. Iโve read that theyโre trying to make another Carl Crawford deal, give away Mookie if someone will take Eovaldi or Price. Cherington and Dombrowski won title but itโs going to cost down the road. The root cause is the inability to develop a starting pitcher. Who was the last one, Buchholz? Forced them to over pay for Price and Sale. I've seen 4 titles in 15 years, I've seen the Red Sox be a competitive team basically for the last 33 years or so. Sorry, but I can't get into the doom and gloom stuff. There's plenty of money there, the Sox aren't about to turn into the Pittsburgh Pirates. The team isnโt going to be the Royals, two years competitive and 2 years not. But when the luxury tax is 220 million and you have 91 million ties up in three pitchers, itโs bad. Bogaerts will be in the same situation Mookie is soon. Then Ben in 10D, Devers etc. And the farm is not good. Some position players, no starters. And they canโt keep losing draft picks. They hired the new GM because he knows how to do more with less.

Dick's Burgers are awesome and an institution up there. Great greasy food at a super cheap price. It's been a few years since I've been there, but you could get a double cheeseburger, fries, and a homemade shake for like $6, an incredible bargain. Plus, they got this great incentive for kids working there, if you work there during your high school years, they will help pay for some of your college expenses. Great food, but most importantly a great company to work for.

I'd hate for him to go to the Phils, where he loses two games in a row and the fans are all over him. I don't want him to leave the Giant but I think he ends up in Atlanta where they'll treat him much better. Plus I hate Harper and I dont' want to the Phils to have any help that might get them to post season. You know why they wouldnโt be all over him in Atlanta? Because they donโt give a shit about baseball in Atlanta. Fans in Atlanta aren't the same douchebag assholes in Phillie. Phillies fans are just straight up assholes.

No no no . . . According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Dodgers "will now shift their focus" to free agent starter Madison Bumgarner. This report from Rosenthal comes on the heels of Gerrit Cole inking a record-breaking nine-year, $324 million free agent contract with the Yankees. The Dodgers were said to be a finalist for Cole, along with the Angels. Bumgarner just finished up an 11-year run with the Dodgers' arch rival in San Francisco, during which he won three World Series championships and posted a 3.13 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, and 8.7 K/9 over 1,846 regular-season innings. The 30-year-old left-hander is probably past his prime, but he can still be an effective workhorse for a contending club in 2020 and beyond. Word is his asking price is around $100 million.
