Just watched this...
Basically, more of the same. If you've seen any of the previous three films, you've seen this.
I stuck it out to the end, but lost interest less than half way in 💤
5/10 (possibly 4).

Yeah. A little disappointing, but essentially what I expected.
The opening 10 minutes or so is probably the best of the film, as is tradition in the series. But that opening sequence consisting of like 3 or 4 different opening sequeneces was kind of clever and a fun way to poke fun at their whole thing while having that horror tone. It was in line with everything the series had done and took it a step further, which is exactly what it should do.
But then the rest of the movie is fairly bland. Too bad, but not a surprise.

I kind of liked it. It's actually the best of the sequels and the most interesting, besides the first.

I kind of liked it. It's actually the best of the sequels and the most interesting, besides the first. I'd say the 2nd is the best sequel and the 3rd is the most interesting sequel. I thought 3 had some clever, intriguing, and rich ideas with lots of potential that got very messy but had a cool foundation. I can't really say much of the same about Scream 4.

To be fair I can’t argue with 2 being the best sequel since I do go back and forth between the two, and 3 had its potential but that potential was pretty wasted.

Yeah, felt the same too. Strong beginning that slowly peter out. I was kinda getting bored of the familiar dynamics that I hoped they would’ve killed off one or two of the mainstays (Dewey or Gale). But I guess they weren’t game enough. .

I feel like this movie came our ahead of its time. If you think about it, it's basically a deconstruction of soft reboots like The Force Awakens. The killers are remaking the first film, with the old characters there to pass the torch and then die. But it flips it and the old characters prevail over the new ones trying to replace them. That's why I didn't have a problem with Sidney, Gale, and Dewey all living.
Of course, that's pretty much the only inspired thing about the movie.

I thought it was ok and a good installment in the series, but I think it didn't leave me wanting more.

I like it. I was never at all satisfied with part 3 which I struggle to sit through. This installment felt more like a trilogy closer to me, capping a trio of slasher films I always return to.

I liked it a lot and then it bombed and we never got the planned Scream 5 and Scream 6. I remember at the time I asked Anthony Anderson on Twitter, who's in both Scream 4 and Scary Movie 4, which one he preferred and he actually answered and said Scream 4, so you know, it has that going for it too.

Which would have been interesting, but considering the 4th film underperformed, we probably wouldn't have gotten those anyway. You should have followed up by asking Tori Spelling if she prefers Scream 2 or Scary Movie 2, and Jenny McCarthy if she prefers Scream 3 or Scary Movie 3.

I really enjoyed this one and regard it as the best of the sequels. It contains a strong element of menace and yet never loses its sense of fun or inventiveness. Easily my favourite slasher movie of the last decade. 3 felt very watered down and contrived to me. 2 was good, but it came out not long after the first and ended up being overshadowed by it. 4 was more its own film - linked to the others, of course, but set far enough into the future that it could reliably take the narrative in a different direction.
