Haven't spent much time in Florida since finishing college so my incomparable taste in food hadn't really developed yet. Still, even back then, tough to go wrong with a nice piece of fresh fish at some beachside grill. Earlier this year, my wife and I went to Taste America, a rotating food and drink expo hosted by the James Beard Foundation, they do it across the county in most major metro areas throughout the year and it's definitely worth checking out if it comes by. This year, Tiffani Faison and CJ Jacobson from Top Chef were there, Tiffani made this cold spicy minestrone that was awesome, just very fresh and clean tasting. But there was one dude there, Brad Kilgore (who I had never heard of but apparently is well regarded in Miami), the description of his dish from the event page is: Soft Egg with Sea Scallop, Gruyère Espuma, Chives, and Osetra Caviar. I'm not a big scallop guy, but this dish was truly outrageous. At the risk of sounding hyperbolic, it was one of the best things I've ever had. The way the event is set up you can basically visit each table as many times as you want and I think based on where his table was set up, he never really had a line or a wait. I must have had 15 of them. It's been 6 months and I still talk to anyone who wants to know about it and every time it makes me want to go to Miami just to eat that dish again. Anyway, if you're in Miami, go to his restaurant. He has one called Ember and a cocktail bar called Kaido. He may have others in the area. Hey KL. You know what I hate? Moochers that bother people like lawyers and doctors for free medical or legal advice. You know the type: "You're a Doctor? Can you take a look at this???" "Yes sir, that is indeed a genital wart. Now please for goodness sake put that away, we're in an Uber Pool!!!" That being said, I do have a quick question that I would like to ask. My lawyer is away and I won't be able to speak to him till next year. Would it be OK if I sent you a DM? Actually, are DMs a thing here? If they are, would that be OK? Of course! Many others before you have done so, happy to help if I can.

One day I hope to go to Arizona and check out the Giants camp or something. I know a guy who goes every year and says it's an absolute blast. A couple of times I've done sales jobs in Florida around December and January, right before spring training. You would be stunned to see that many of these towns are really small communities that all of a sudden for two months have major league teams walking around. It's weird to think about when you see these towns. I went to Winter Haven, where the Indians train (and the Red Sox used to), it is basically a backwoods town with like one shopping center. Brandenton, Lakeland, Fort Myers.....you wonder what multi-million dollar pro athletes do for fun in these towns.

SARASOTA, FLβNervously watching as the suspicious man cheered on the team, the Baltimore Orioles told reporters Tuesday that they were creeped out by a fan who actually followed the ballclub to spring training. βThis weirdo in an Orioles jacket has been hanging out around the facilities all week. Did this guy seriously bother to follow us all the way down here?β said first baseman Chris Davis, who claimed the whole team has been unnerved by the idea that some disturbed loner spent hundreds of dollars on travel and accommodations just to watch them play a few meaningless pre-season games. βHeβs been here every day just sitting up in the stands. He even brought binoculars so he can watch the players warming up and doing drills on the other side of the field. What kind of creep does that? I hope he didnβt come all the way from Baltimoreβthis wouldnβt even be worth it if he lived in Florida.β At press time, the Orioles had requested security to remove the fan after he asked if there was any Orioles merchandise available for purchase. Now they should do a bit that the teams in the south and west such as the Dbacks, Dodgers, Marlins etc are considering going North for theirs. "If those damn yankees are going to come down here and invade and take over our turf for their training then we are going to go up there! That'll teach 'em!" LOL

Didn't even know this was happening. Past few years has been constant Jays spring training relocation chatter. They've gone now from one of the worst facilities to top tier, without moving an inch. Btw, ask me about SkyDome's lack of renos... blame municipal gov't & economics. Rail Deck Park, greening deck over the rail lands adjacent Rogers Centre, their 'air rights' are so valuable, they've yet to be properly/legally allocated. Jays aren't spending a dime until that park's shovels are in the ground, they want in with ideas of their own for the area.
