These two recent and highly acclaimed shows. I can't tell you how many threads and discussions I've seen on which is better.
On IMDB Breaking Bad used to be #1 on the Top 250 and Game of Thrones was #2. They've dropped a couple places but Game of Thrones is now ahead of Breaking Bad though they both have a 9.4.
So which do you think is the superior show?
I love both but I'd say Breaking Bad as it constantly got better as it went on.

I would have to say Game of Thrones.. but then again I'm looking forward to more GoT episodes, while I look back and miss Breaking Bad. But, if I had to choose I would say Game of Thrones.

They're both great shows and it'll depend on Game of Thrones' final 2 seasons, but so far I have to go with 'Game of Thrones', just because I've never been so emotionally involved in a show as I'm with Game of Thrones.

It's hard to choose as both are excellent but so different from each other. If pushed I'd have to go for Game of Thrones purely for re-watchabilty. I can see myself re-watching GoT quite often whereas BB probably not so much. Maybe another viewing in a couple of years. GoT has more to explore with the books and online stuff so I think it lends itself more to 'fandom' than BB. All the character backgrounds, maps, histories etc. attached to it give it an appeal that goes beyond just watching and enjoying a series. I think both have excellent writing, storyline, acting and casting, but GoT has amazing design and production that gets extra points from me. It's beautiful to look at: the locations, sets, costumes and props are wonderful. And it has dragons

Breaking Bad - Fairly fast paced, easy to follow storylines, characters which differ from each other both physically and personality wise. Also the storylines tended to vary from season to season.
Game of Thrones - Slow, especially in the early seasons. I find some of the characters look similar to each other which makes it hard to follow at times and yes I am only a casual viewer not a hardcore fan. The seasons tend to be a little same-ish as well.
I like both but if I had to watch one it would be Breaking Bad.

I have to say that Game of Thrones is a couple steps above any television show in history. I've seen the entirety of both, have rewatched Breaking Bad once or twice and Game of Thrones about seven or eight times. The world of Game of Thrones is just so much richer and backed with 8000 years of history. Honestly Breaking Bad is more consistent, but it is easier to create a story when it takes place in the modern world as opposed to a fantasy world with dragons and white walkers. Season 7 and 8 are almost guaranteed to be the two greatest seasons of the show, and they should solidify Game of Thrones' place as the greatest television show of all time...if the Red Wedding hadn't already.

Breaking Bad. Breaking Bad got better with time.
Early seasons of GOT were wonderful. Its gone to chit in the last 2-3 seasons. The show is ending. I think it should.

I enjoy both, but for me it's not even a close call. Game of Thrones.

Breaking Bad was the superior show, in my opinion. I thought every episode was good (even the one with the fly). I felt the same way about Game of Thrones, until season 5, particularly the episode in which Sansa gets raped . I also felt season 6 started very disjointed and messy. We would spend five minutes in one location, then five minutes in another, then five minutes in another... I just wanted to slap the writers. I still like Game of Thrones, but Breaking Bad was much more consistent in its quality.

I will just say that I have never spent so much of my time on any particular movie series/ television series as I have spent on Game of Thrones/ASOIAF. I have read countless user comments, I have seen many GOT clips 50 times or more and I have searched and scanned through online articles/websites about GOT/ASOIAF for over 1000s of hours. I don't remember even one week of my life in last few years in which I have not been engaged in searching something about GOT.

I don't remember even one week of my life in last few years in which I have not been engaged in searching something about GOT. Do you know why? I don't know. Initially I laughed on people who watched GOT. I didn't even watch a single episode of GOT during the first 4 seasons. Then I randomly decided to see one episode and went on to see the first 40 episodes within next 72 hours. 3 days of dream. In the same time I had a take-home exam but I was so engrossed with GOT that I was finally left with just 1 day out 4 days given to complete the exam. I guess Martin has created a completely new world with its own cultures, religions, elements (Valyrian steel?), races and other things. I was fascinated by the different cultures, different landscapes and fascinating religions like that of R'hllor, old gods, 7 gods and faceless god etc. The fact there were knights and warriors and sell swords made me imagine all sorts of things. Often I would start facinating that I was also a part of this world in some sort of role (which kept changing all the time). The good thing is that I was never taken by any one character in particular. I mean GOT shows us reality of humans. There is hardly any perfect human being in that world. They all have flaws. This meant that I never got attached to any one character but liked and hated many different characters. And the biggest thing is that GOT's story never got stuck in any particular place. Sometimes they showed the south, some times beyond the wall, Meereen, Vale and so on and on. That world is just so amazing.

I don't pay attention to any other series nearly as much not will I probably ever again.

Game of Thrones. Easily. Although Breaking Bad was good, I find that it has no replay value whatsoever for me and I can't tell you why. I actually thought Breaking Bad got worse as it went on. Those silent family dinner scenes where literately nothing happens, was getting redundant. Game of Thrones has an unbelievable amount of stories side plots that I know I will be able to watch it again and again. Not to mention the sheer brutal nature of Game of Thrones. They've probably taken more risks with studios with some of the scenes they show

Started last week, done yesterday lol. I too was just glued to this series for the same reasons you mentioned.
