Gene Hackman was going to be Mr. Brady before Robert Reed, BUT turned-it-down.

Gene Hackman was going to be Mr. Brady before Robert Reed, BUT turned-it-down. Hard to picture him in that show. He would have been so different. They both portrayed disillusioned priests around 1972. While Hackman did the Poseidon Adventure, Reed was in Haunts of the Very Rich.

While 'The Brady Bunch' is a fun and innocent show (NOT quite on the level of 'Gilligan's Island' and possibly and probably some of his (Sherwood Schwartz's other series)...I BET he's GLAD (Gene Hackman, that IS) that he turned-it-DOWN.
