So what if he does not know that? Because Scorsese previously said in an interview that Marvel movies were not cinema and they were more like theme parks. Now he admits that he doesn't even know which ones are Marvel movies. Well, they certainly aren't rocket science. He has a point when comparing them to theme park rides.

You do know that most of the people that watch these movies aren't fans of the comics, right? It's not like he brought up romantic comedies. He stepped into the prison and went after the big dog. How many 76 year Olds do you think enjoy comic book movies? A lot? Again. This is a guy that's making noise to get his movie noticed. You start saying that you don't like comic book movies in a climate where they are the most popular and you'll get noticed. It all falls apart when people ask why and he has a different reason every time.

This is a legendary director and his movie certainly doesn't need to get noticed, because it has been the talk of the day since people knew it would bring De Niro, Pacino and Pesci together. Please educate yourself.

He was basically saying there is a lack of diversity in movies these days. No one disagrees with him. Disney puts 10 copies of the same movie in one theater, so that means at least 9 spaces that could be occupied by other films. The claim that the public wants less content variety is REALLY dubious--like saying the public wants the same corrupt politicians year after year. Scorsese mainly said it because of his self-interest--he has a movie to peddle, but the basic criticism is correct. Why he didnt state it more clearly and opted to make it specifically about superheroes is the question. If he said there should be more pulp adventure, jungle adventure or pirate movies, not just superhero ones, he could have made a stronger argument. If he had wanted to.

Please educate yourself. You still have to market the movie. You think everyone would have rushed out to see his movie because of the three names attached to it? Also, it's on Netflix. If he was so legendary the movie would have gone to theaters. But it didn't, did it? And that was one of the things he complained about when it came to comic book movies. That they're taking up too much space in theaters for his movie. Hell, even on Netflix, I didn't watch it or care to.
So educate yourself.

Well, actually it did screen in theaters across the world. You watch dumb superhero movies, so you're obviously not the demographic that Scorsese's movies appeal to.

And this is where you pretty much reveal your true color. Saying that ThatGuy is not the demographic for Scorsese's films is one thing, but doing that by basically belittling his film preferences shows that you're here to deride people who simply has different taste in films. Also, for someone who pretends to be intelligent, I find it astounding that you show such lack of intelligence in just 1 or 2 sentences. The Irishman got limited releases at most because of Netflix's release policy that didn't go well with cinema chains. It certainly wasn't a film that you could see in your nearby area. And another thing, Scorsese's last film, Silence, actually bombed at the box office, so him being a legendary director doesn't necessarily mean much.

I thought it was pretty good, but going back to being big enough one doesn't have to promote themselves, that's definitely not true. Silence is a great example of a film done by one of today's greatest living directors that nobody's seen. A lot of movies fall under the radar, even really good ones with critically acclaimed actors or directors. They're usually picked up in categories like the best films you missed/best films that flew under the radar.
Nobody I know talks about or ever heard of silence, yet it's a Martin Scorsese and stars Andrew Garfield, Adam Driver and Liam Neeson. Andrew Garfield's talented but hit and miss and Adam Driver probably couldn't draw the same crowd two years ago that he does today, but Liam Neeson's a big deal. They did 3 Taken movies with the premise of you're in deep shit if Liam Neeson's after you.

I'm located in Europe, not the USA, and the movie actually played for a short time in a theater near me, so... And let's not pretend superhero movies are intelligent. If you've seen one you've basically seen them all, because they all follow the exact same storyline.

If you've seen one you've basically seen them all, because they all follow the exact same storyline. The Irishman getting rejected by major cinema chains happened all over the world, including in at least 1 European country: www.theguardian.com/film/2019/nov/07/why-martin-scorseses-the-irishman-wont-be-coming-to-a-cinema-near-youYou may be one person who was able to see the film at the cinema, but don't try to pretend that it got a wide release outside of the U.S. And the bolded part further proves that you're one of those pseudo-intellectuals who thinks a film has to be "artsy" to be intelligent or even good. Your statement about superhero films may have been true back in 2000s, but this is an incredibly arrogant and maybe even pretentious mindset to have nowadays, especially considering the wide variety of sub-genres that superhero films are willing to go with. This is a kind of mindset that makes me keep saying that something like Fifty Shades Freed is more likely to get a Best Picture nomination than, say, Coco or Avengers: Endgame.

Why do you have a problem with me calling superhero movies dumb? They aren't dumb? I have yet to hear an argument from you guys that proves otherwise, but all you can do is circle-jerk in your superhero bubble and call me names. For the record, I don't have anything against superhero movies. But adults who obsessively watch these things and take everything seriously maybe need a reality check.

If you want to claim they're dumb then go and provide proof that they're dumb. You can't ask someone to prove a negative.
