Back when I was in youth bowling, there was a tournament called "4 Steps To Stardom". The steps were:
In-house (competing against solely those in the league) Zone (competing against the qualifiers in your region) Provincial (competing against the Zone champions) National (competing against the Provincial Champions)
In-house, the top 6 bowlers would advance to the Zone championship. The top bowler would compete as a single, and the other 5 would compete as a team.
I was pretty much a shoe-in to qualify for Zone. I won the zone a couple of times on a team, and a couple of times as a single. So, each time, I would go on to the Provincials.
In my last year of youth bowling, I did qualify as a single. I won the Zone championship by 2 pins! It was my last 'kick at the can' - to coin a phrase.

Perhaps if he went on a diet he could have achieved it. One has to be pragmatic and rational as well. He gave it a shot. Okay... let’s try to avoid being too serious...

Occasionally in most fields.
It invariably goes wrong either due to my own fuck-ups or another's fuck-ups or just the erosion caused by time that makes things decay. I'd say I get to keep the memories at least but even that has no permanence.
I suppose I have no regrets, though. I like keeping my happy moments and I'll not say it was without meaning.

come on dude. there must have been something. the best steak you ever had or the first kiss or orgasm you experienced or a friend that came through many times. I became vego in 2000. In 98' when I was visiting my folks in NZ, we went to a local restaurant called The Salty Dog and I ordered a sirloin with a skewer of mushrooms. I was on codral cold tablets and not feeling 100% at the time, but man, that was the best steak I have ever had, or that I can recall. I think I ordered it medium. It just melted in my mouth and a memory to be savored, even though my guts were feeling tight and sensitive at the time. I guess the sensitivity I was feeling made me more in-tune with the food and how it was cooked. I think a lot of thought and care went into cooking that steak and mushrooms.
Once in the mid 90's, I went to a Scottish restaurant with friends and ordered an eye fillet with a whiskey sauce. I asked for it medium. The waitress explained how it would look medium and that I should go medium to well. Others were ordering the same too and she never said a thing to them. I went with her suggestion and it was just perfect for me. How did she know? great meals can be very powerfu experiences yeah. i still remember some childhood meals like the ebst food ever even though I am sure I had better food since then the memory is still wery powerful.

Sex - yes. Besides girls willing to do the things I'm into, there've also been a couple of bucket list things. I've hooked up with a lesbian, a redhead, a strict religious girl, and had two threesomes.
Love - hmm...I mean, I've been in love. Wouldn't know how to quantify it, though
Meal - I loved everything I had in New Orleans, especially the po boy with shrimp and roast beef. The cheesesteaks I had in Philly. The pizza in NY. Maybe not fancy food critic stuff, but I'm not too hard to please eating-wise
Holiday - eh, my holidays stay pretty simple
Friends - no. I was in a different school every year when I was a kid so I never really formed any strong bonds or attachments. Nowadays I mainly just have work friends and prefer being alone otherwise
