Wow.. This news sort of just came out of nowhere. Outside of the James Gunn situation, this is the first time in a while that Marvel lost a director.

Meh.
Edgar Wright left Ant-Man because his vision didn't align with the Infinity Saga. If this is the MCU course correcting for another decade, so be it. That's the cost of long form storytelling with multiple films.

What a mess. I don't necessarily think Derrickson is all that good, but with only a year and a half until release I bet they hire a generic yes man like Peyton Reed to take the project. Shame. I was really hoping this one would be great.

Its gonna be a parody like Scary movie maybe that's why he bailed Dude, you hated the first Doctor Strange movie(which they co-wrote and directed), so where is this "Well obviously this guy knows what they're doing and seeing how they were going to screw up his vision its sad a talented man like that had to depart now the movie will for sure suck" mindset coming from? Also stop with this "it's gonna be like Scary Movie" nonsense, as you've proven plenty of times over that you do not understand what a parody really is.

Since he is clearly summers8 sock I wish he would get lost the next time we do the laundry. Others socks get lost all the time... Only the ones you actually want to get rid of dont.

I was really hoping this one would be great. So they have what, 4 months? Yup. Which is certainly not enough time for a director to have any input whatsoever in the material. Maybe they could get find someone who is instantly excited about their script, but my guess is they'll delibrately go the safe route to avoid any more problems. Which is smart in a way, but it will probably lead to a bland movie at best or a soulless movie at worst.

My guess is that the horror aspect of it is what caused the tension. Maybe Scott wanted to really go for it and Marvel, somewhat understandably, didn't want a true horror movie that would make parents and kids think twice about seeing it? Feige did recently say that it wouldn't be a horror movie, contradicting early comments by Scott and others. Maybe they agreed on things earlier, but once they saw the script they thought it went too far.

The first 3 rows when I saw Dark Knight were all eight year olds. I'm sure they turned out fine.

That's a shame. The stuff that Scott Derickson has been saying about the sequel was really intriguing. I do think Ackbar Von Trapp has a point. Marvel probably won't go too far into the horror elements that Derickson was proposing.

They're not going to cancel the movie because the director had to be dropped for creative differences, they can find a replacement and continue from there. Jeez, how many times must you be told to go to school? Given your age I'll be kind to say it is never too late to get a decent education.
