Which Hulk film is better: The Incredible Hulk (2008) OR Hulk (2003)?
And why?
For me, both films have their pros and cons and are severely underrated by a lot of people...but I think The Incredible Hulk (2008) is definitely better. I still find Edward Norton to be best Hulk/Bruce Banner we have had so far (yes, that means better than Mark Ruffalo).
Ang Lee's Hulk did a really job of explaining the story of Bruce's troubled traumatic childhood past and the origins of how Bruce Banner became the Incredible Hulk and I think it did an excellent job of delving into the pain and psyche of Bruce Banner and the Hulk and explaining why Bruce is so angry and stressed all the time and showing us why Bruce's anger and stress always winds up making him turn into a big angry green monster. Ang Lee's Hulk did a really good job of showing us split personality between Bruce Banner and the Hulk and why it so bad for Bruce to become the Hulk and it did a really good job in showing why Bruce doesn't like what he has become. And I think overall, Ang Lee gave us an otherwise decent live-action portrayal of the classic Incredible Hulk comics and character. But other than that, the film still leaves so much to be desired and the film was way too slow-paced, serious and moody for it's own good. And the film had an incredibly weak villian in Bruce's father and there was NO villain throughout most of the film because Bruce Banner AND the Hulk WAS the villain throughout the film. He was BOTH the Hero/Villian. And I don't even get me started on that ridiculous final act where the Bruce's father turns into a giant cloud by absorbing all of Bruce's energy and than dies.
The Incredible Hulk (2008) was the superior film all around period and anyone who saw both of the Hulk films when they came out in theaters will agree. The Incredible Hulk (2008) was the film everyone wanted in 2003, but didn't get unfortunately.

Incredible for sure, although I probably should revisit the Lee version.

As a fan of the late 1970s TV Show, I found The Incredible Hulk (2008) to be far better movie than Hulk (2003)...
The plot was good and seemed more realisitc, and the Hulk looked great... And the homages to the TV Show, were fantastic too.
And I also, thought that Edward Norton was great as Banner (Mark Ruffalo seems too goofy to me.)... And Norton was far better than that other guy from the earlier movie.
I thought the plot to Hulk (2003) was hard to understand (And I still don't really get it!).
The Green Skin Tone Coloring Shade of the Hulk looked too artificial. It looked like a cartoon, But, wasn't this supposed to be a live action movie?
In addition, wasn't that Hulk capable of jumping several miles? WTF was that all about? Geeze. Get Real!
The Incredible Hulk (2008) will always be my favorite choice.

The 2003 film was a misfire. So many bad ideas like Hulk Poodle. The 2008 film was better.
Bill Bixby was the best Banner.

TIH was the better film. Had the better CGI. Had the better fight scenes.
But for some reason 2003 Hulk was the more memorable film. It also had the better cast.
Sam Elliot was a better Ross than William Hurt. Jennifer Connelly was a better Betty than Liv Tyler. And I also preferred Eric Bana for Banner over Ed Norton.
There's just something a bit too intense and dark about Norton's acting that doesn't match the mild-mannered scientist that Banner is supposed to be. It's like casting Christian Bale as the goofy, happy go-lucky Starlord.

Certainly the Incredible Hulk. I respect Ang Lee for trying to bring a more thoughtful approach to of all characters, Hulk. But there isn't much action to justify the length and Eric Bana isn't that interesting as Bruce Banner. Nick Nolte is fun as the villain. Sam Elliot was just pitch perfect casting as General Ross and gives I think the performance of the movie. Less said about the mutant dog fight, the better.
