I wish those slide shows were easier to use, msdemosI started, but quit after a few. The info would be great! I tried searching for the same list in another form, but couldn't . thank you .. it would have been interesting! www.health.com/nutrition/worst-restaurant-foodsthis list is not in slide show format, but I don't know if it was the same list as yours??

" I wish those slide shows were easier to use, msdemos........this list is not in slide show format, but I don't know if it was the same list as yours??" No, but yours is good too (and the fact that it's NOT a slideshow, is a plus also......something I normally try to refrain from posting.....) SAVE FERRIS thank you for the second guessing ordering tips! My husband got a cup of coffee at our local greasy spoon and thought it weird. After a few sips he realized there was a napkin stuffed in the bottom of the cup. Either it had not been washed or... that's prolly it. Took a loooooooooooooong time for us to go back there (even though they are cheap and tasty) and definitely no more coffee!!

Sorry, Msdemos ... that site posed a difficulty for me, too. The three suggestions that I was able to see, involved fish dishes. However, I've heard that it's inadvisable to order a lunch sandwich on Mondays, because there is no bread baking, or delivery, on Sunday. That's probably not a dire situation, as 2 day old bread shouldn't harm anyone ... and, a given restaurant may receive bread deliveries early on Monday. A somewhat cynical friend advises avoiding any dish that comes with gravy (turkey, chicken, country, red-eye, etc.), saying that he wonders what they're covering up.

.....a restaurant, then take a look at this (a list that actually mentions tap water, btw): SAVE FERRIS I didn't have any problems with the slide show, and also, I found it all very interesting (even a bit disturbing). So, for the benefit of anybody who's having trouble viewing it, I copied and pasted all 20 items on the list (I only copied the descriptions, not the photos, but I think you get the idea even without the photos):

I not only like, but trust, my own cooking. in the summer when it is 100 degrees plus, I do worry about buying groceries. I get the refrigerator food last and rush right home. But there is room for mistakes. that is scary! but like you, I try to be safe with my food. I even threw a frozen pumpkin pie out because it had obviously frozen and refroze in an odd shape.

divtal: my somewhat cynical father had a similar perspective on "stew" of any kind. He felt it was a means to hide something the eater of said stew was not supposed to know about, lol

-As a Sicilian-Caesar salad & no mention of garlic? And we always do the coddled egg. -bringing up E coli with the sprouts, ok-but a baked potato can be just as dangerous-yes just as dangerous-so why just mention sprouts? -sliced lemon or lime-if they are going to be this picky-you mine as well stay home
There's a reason places are checked by health inspectors-in fact ours just came in(perfect btw). Everything mentioned in this article is about depending on the restaurant to be up to par. If you don't think they are-don't go there. But if they are not washing their hands for the fruit or the lettuce, etc-do they really think the rest of the food will pass the muster?

No chance I'll ever order a well-done steak or burger.

No chance I'll ever order a well-done steak or burger. Same here. Medium is about the highest level of "doneness" that I'll go for.

Owning a food biz, most of this on the list is something inspectors/and your state health codes say avoid as well. Anything with the fish and raw-the place must have in place HAACP-ask them for it. If they don't have it, well...As for the Caesar salad they say use pasteurized eggs & it will be fine. In our house though, we do the coddled eggs. But like other posters have stated-I prefer eating at home. My family likes brunches at the holidays...I just look at the multiple people handling the serving ware(or lack thereof), the dishes on tables, with no sneeze guards....yuk. And serving sprouts are prohibited.

No chance I'll ever order a well-done steak or burger. I thought about why I don't want pink in my steak, NJ I was raised on a farm. We butchered beef, pork and chicken. I think that image was enough pink for me forever. lol there must be a reason as I have a real aversion to the pink. In that thread about "how do you like your steak?" the rare image was disturbing to me. lol anyway, if you order a steak and it comes to you too well-done, send it my way. lol
