Neil Peart has died at the age of 67. Peart was a member of Rush.
Thanks for the music, Mr. Peart ... rest well.

GMTA. You beat me by about 90 seconds. I just think it's ridiculous that for several hours the only thread said "wow". What a joke.

I just think it's ridiculous that for several hours the only thread said "wow". What a joke. I edited it to "RIP Neil Peart," but I guess he didn't like it because he actually changed it back to "wow". So, fine, whatever. We'll just make new threads I 100% respect anybody's right, and everybody's right, to post their own, but it's only by chance I clicked on that thread and heard the news. Is this the chance to commemorate the passing of inarguably one of the finest musicians in rock n roll history, or what is it?
Anyway, it's time to listen to Rush (with the volume up high). Some of my favourite artists succumbed eventually to brain cancer, including Wes Craven who's one of the few people I've ever looked up to. So I hope Neil Peart's at peace now, sincerely.

Whilst I found their music absolutely ridiculous the documentary showed them as nice men and this is very sad to hear. He was a technically great drummer and put everything into his craft. RIP.

One of the very best drummers for sure. I got to see Rush in Allentown, PA in 1979. They played all the songs from Permanent Waves which had not even been released yet. We got to hear it before it came out. Peart was incredible.

I've been listening to Rush all day, focusing on the later albums, which I don't know like the back of my hand. (I was a 'completist until the late 80's)
RIP, Neil.

I've never liked that song much, but I gained an appreciation for it when it was perfectly placed at the end of Beyond the Lighted Stage. It's also a nice swan song, and I love this verse: The future disappears into memory With only a moment between Forever dwells in that moment Hope is what remains to be seen

According to wiki...
"Rush has released 24 gold records and 14 platinum records (including 3 multi-platinum), placing them fifth behind The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Kiss and Aerosmith for the most consecutive gold or platinum studio albums by a rock band in the United States."

In the two NFL games today, both CBS and Fox used Limelight as an outro before going to a commercial.

In the two NFL games today, both CBS and Fox used Limelight as an outro before going to a commercial. Very cool. Sirius XM's "Deep Tracks" station is playing nothing but Rush. It was weird seeing "Red Tide" on the display.

I never followed Rush all that closely outside of Tom Sawyer and a few other more popular songs of theirs but I always appreciated their talent. I’ve been checking out some of their later albums and it turns out I really like Counterparts and Snakes and Arrows. I’ll have to delve further. The World has lost a brilliantly gifted musician and songwriter. Rest in peace.
