As I understand it their series a actually fairly well regarded. The only one I've really seen any of is some of the first season of Channel Zero, which seemed like it was surprisingly pretty good. They're not the same as the original movies, which are bad on purpose. That said, those last few Don Mancini Child's Play movies are pretty dumb and campy. They have their moments of fun, but I'm not sure I'd have much of an interest in an elongated series version of that.

Syfy has done some great series but lately they sabotage themselves, or NBC is sabotaging them. And it feels like a lot of their programming is being oriented towards young adults who probably are not their primary audience because a lot of those young adults are switching to streaming.

This has been in the works for some time now. Don Mancini is writing/producing, Brad Dourif is returning, the storyline from the movies is being continued, etc. What's not to like?

Shrug. I get that Cult wasn't exactly a crowd-pleaser but I think Curse was pretty solid. I'd rather Mancini continue those threads than see the franchise go through a full on reboot.

It's not terrible, but it kind of isn't really anything. It's got some relatively well made horror set piece scenes, but I can't say that I think it does much in the way of story telling, which is what a series is gonna have to rely on more so. And then Cult of Chucky, also has some fun and reasonably well constructed moments, but has a pretty lame story line too... and I was looking forward to, ya know, a cult. Instead the title of the movie seemed to be culled from thin air. But a series that continues on from there is gonna start with Dourif's daughter as Chucky, who actually is quite good, and I don't have much interest in that. I'd give it a chance, but I don't think I'll expect much.

I'm kind of a fanboy for the series, so I have to step back and look at this from another viewpoint, but I still think the series is in better hands with its original creator that anyone else. But I happened to like the remake as well, so maybe I'm just an easy mark for anything Chucky related.

Yeah. It actually seems better in the trailer than I thought it would from reading about it. It seems it's gonna continue on from the last two straight-to-streaming movies and also restore it to the original killer doll with an unsuspecting kid formula at the same time. And it actually looks good visually, which I didn't really expect. Weird that they moved it to Hackensack, though. Just seems random. I guess the remake isn't gonna continue on, which is fine, but that was actually a fun take. Maybe it would have been better if it was an original and didn't include a 'Chucky' doll and didn't use the title Child's Play. They could have done away with those elements and it would have been a cool semi original horror movie ripe for a sequel.

Now this is much more appealing than the first trailer. We actually have some connection to the movies with the returning characters.

Have been enjoying it so far... Need to watch the 3rd episode. It's weirding me out seeing 12-13 year old kids drinking and partying etc. Lexi is super bitchy and I'd love for her to get it. Got a feeling they'll redeem her tho and save her. π Her boyfriend is annoying too.
Seems to be going that way with showing how her Parents barely pay attention to her and favor her little Sister. The School talent show part was great. Hated that Jake's Cat got killed but at least it was offscreen.
Will be interesting to see how the other characters figure into the plot... Tiffany, Andy, etc.

They are stringing us along quite nicely.

Was gonna skip this but wound up watching the first two episodes and enjoying them.
Loved that dishwasher death!π΅
Brad Dourif's evil Chucky laugh is a thing of beauty. π

Oliver seemed nice. It should've been Lexi. π Her Sis seems like a budding serial killer. π Can't believe no one noticed or felt that Fire break out.
Hoping Jake doesn't actually take the plunge and kill someone... I can see this going a couple of ways.

I haven't caught up with the most recent episode yet either, but I've annoyed the first two for the most part. It feels more like a reboot/remake than a continuation at this point, but they've peppered in a few references like the phone call that main kid got in the first episode and Chucky mentioning that he had a kid. I guess as it progresses we may see some of the ideas of the last movie pay off. If they don't bring Fiona Dourif and Jennifer Tilly in soon I'd be surprised.

Not sure if you are caught up but your wish is granted in the last episode... Very cool who they cast to play Charles Lee Ray in the 80's . I'm enjoying the flashbacks to his origins as well. The "redemption" arc of Lexi is pretty corny... Hoping they'll be some payoff with Junior otherwise he's not really doing much.

Like, I get it's really hip to introduce some bitchy rich girl character and then make her a protagonist - it's only been done in a million other teen shows - but like...she dressed up as someone's dad and mocked their horrific death. No "her mom is slightly rude to her!" Freudian bullshit is gonna excuse that. She needs to go.
