Hmmm, I don't visit any fast food or chain places anymore, but I guess I miss those 2 am bombed stops at Waffle House down south. That stuff just soaks all the booze and lets you pass out worry free.

There was one Catman and Catwoman liked a lot until they started serving meat sauce while swearing it had no meat in it. Shortly after Catman decided to stop going there, it went out of business.

I used to like LUMS but I think they went out of business a long time ago. I also used to like White Castles but there are none here and the frozen ones are no good. When Taco Bell started out, I loved their tacos but a few decades ago they changed them. When Arby's started they were a decent beef sandwich but now the "meat" reminds me of plastic. Favorite carry out now: The Cook Out hamburgers, I like the ones with caramelized onions, melted cheddar and bacon. ( I would loved to substitute mushrooms for the bacon but they don't have mushrooms.)

Wimpy's Hamburger joint. Gone, but not forgotten.

Wimpy's Hamburger joint. Gone, but not forgotten. I went to one of those in Australia (Brisbane? OR Cairns?) back in 1986. Started in Chicago.

Wimpy's was of course, named after the hamburger munching character in "Popeye" comics. I always thought they had a very good product, and then suddenly, they vanished.
Another chain that vanished (at least where I live) was the "Sizzler" steak house.

I think it's the SAME as Bonanza (depends on location).

When I was in school, there was an A & W, near my sorority house. We ate a lot of burgers, and drank a lot of root beer. Their "submarine" sandwiches were plentiful, and dirt-cheap if several of us contributed $1.00. On that basis, we could afford a big portion of fries.
I haven't even seen an "A 'n Dub," in a long time. I Googled their locations, and found that there are none in my city, but 2 are in suburbs that are fairly close.

I guess in the late 80s and early 90s, I went to McDonalds and Jack in the Box, but I had a kid. More recently, Chili's.
I went to Five Guys once in a while, but I went once and the guy sneezed on his hands just before giving me my credit card back, I got sick that week, and have never gone back.
As for defunct places, Fresh Choice.

Fuddruckers (which I JUST found-out are STILL around), BUT I haven't been to one since about 1993.
Number of locations: 156?!?! (2019).

Use to go to Sizzler. I thought they'd gone out of business, but they just aren't in Texas.

Sizzlers was popular here in WI until 2000 when there was an E. Coli outbreak. I used to love this cheese toast they had. There's an A & W in Reedsburg, WI that still has the old fashioned spaces where you park & they come out & take your order. We also have a couple right here in the suburbs. We also have a Fuddruckers right next to Brookfield Square. This one has been here since late 80's. But it's a prime location. Personally I miss Burger Chef, Big Boys, & Boy Blue Custard stands.

Bonanza Steakhouse. When I was in my early 20's I went to Bonanza Steakhouse about once a week. Have not been to one in decades.

Use to go to Sizzler. I thought they'd gone out of business, but they just aren't in Texas. there's still a good amount of them on the west coast, mostly in California. I had one down the street from the Apartment I had in Washington State. Before I moved to Pennsylvania, all my friends out here thought they had gone out of business as well. I just ate at the one in my hometown of West Covina, California back in August

Yoshinoya Japaense Kitchen, Formerly Yoshinoya Beef Bowl
And I don't frequent them because I can't because they're only in california. Although they did have some arizona, texas and an NYC location at one point but those are gone

( I would loved to substitute mushrooms for the bacon but they don't have mushrooms.) When I was in the military in the late '60s I was forced to spend 6 weeks in Indianapolis. The bright spot was a Lums. The chili dogs were so good you could die and beer never tasted better than when served in an ice cream soda glass. I never was anyplace else near a Lums. According to Wikipedia, a Lums can be seen in the recent movie The Irishman.

Hungry Howie's. Used to order their food alot as a kid, and now I hardly ever go there at all. Can't quite remember the last time I've ordered food from that place.
