Throughout the years, you see many arguments over Star Wars, and many of them get recycled over the years. But some just stand out as extra lame. Here are the top three for me:
- The "true fan" bullshit. People figure out multiple ways to spin that. You're only a "true fan" if you like all the films. You're only a "true fan" if you only like Lucas's films. You're only a "true fan" if you just like the OT. Lol. People who think they have the market cornered on being a "true fan" are stupid.
- The "Star Wars is made for kids" argument. This statement does have an element of truth to it, as they are obviously very much made to appeal to kids. But people sling it trying to insinuate Star Wars films are exclusively kids movies, which is untrue. While a lot was made to appeal to children, much of the story goes over their heads and can't be fully understood until they're adults.
- The "you'd like it if you were smart enough to get it" argument. This one has been around for a bit, used to defend the film of the poster's choice. Most commonly used to defend the prequels, but it has been recently brushed off and recycled for The Last Jedi. Used by people who can't get past the fact that people saw and understood the same things they did and still thought it sucked.
These are just a few that stand out to me and are pretty predictable. What stands out to you?

Used by people who can't get past the fact that people saw and understood the same things they did and still thought it sucked. These are just a few that stand out to me and are pretty predictable. What stands out to you? Yes! Those two are really annoying to hear people regurgitate over and over. I'll add: - "No one hates Star Wars like Star Wars fans" argument. Uh, no, just no. Fans love and are passionate about something (be it Star Wars, Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings, etc.). They attend the midnight showings, collect the merchandise, go to the conventions, talk about the properties online like we do, etc. They're the ones that keep the franchise going decade after decade when there's been stagnation in a series and/or not any movies/TV shows/books beings being released. If it weren't for them, whatever it is would just die out. The truth of the matter is, Star Wars fans only like good Star Wars movies. When that isn't delivered, they're passionate enough to speak out about it. - "It was George Lucas' ideas, so Disney are fine to use it!" argument. Lucas had a lot of ideas along the way about Star Wars. At one time, Han Solo was going to be a reptilian creature, Luke was a middle-aged hardened warrior, and Chewbacca looked more like a monkey than a dog. He was also originally going to make 9 episodes. Lucas didn't end up using any of that. Why? Because ideas change over time. He thought better of them. If he didn't find them good enough to use in 40+ years, why turn around and use them now? Especially after sidelining the man whose ideas they're using?! It just shows the people at Disney/Lucasfilm lack spine, and are just scapegoating George Lucas because they're incompetent at handling the franchise.

hating the prequels because of jar jar, anakin's actor and a few bad lines of dialogue. Oh and too much cgi
The prequels are much much more than this

All points are true but the one that annoys me is #1. This gatekeeper no true Scotsman fallacy is used for a lot of real life things including politics and sports.
