I was kind of lukewarm on the 1981 movie when I first saw, outstanding makeup effects aside, but it's grown on me. Muschietti is rumored to be involved.

I’m a bit mixed. On one hand, it’s remaking a classic (at least in my eyes) that should probably never be touched. On the other, look at the amount of dumpster fire sequels that came after. It’s not like this is gonna taint the original as if it already hasn’t been. Ok granted, I only saw the original but I have my doubts that any of the sequels come even remotely close.

I clicked on your link to read about the re-make of Howling and I found something I find a lot more interesting, a re-make of Penny Dreadful! PD is one of my favourite TV shows ever and so I was excited to see the news: www.comicbookmovie.com/horror/penny-dreadful-city-of-angels-teaser-trailer-brings-supernatural-horrors-to-a-divided-los-angeles-a172679I'm not a big fan of Natalie Dormer and wish Eva Green and Co. were back. I'm pretty sure this is going to be a dumbed down version of the original but I'll give it a try and hope for the best. I hope you don't mind that I've posted this. I didn't mean to hijack your thread.

As I understand it it's not a remake of Penny Dreadful, but a sort of sequel series or sister series. It takes place in the 30s in Los Angeles and deals with like a noir-ish story line involving the Black Dahlia murders or something. This is already being made, and is coming out soon, I think. I loved Penny Dreadful too, but it ended with a really weak and rushed final season that was in a hurry to hastily wrap up because it was getting cancelled... no matter how emphatically they tried to tell us that it was the plan. That's what I find strange about this. The old show ultimately failed to find a big enough audience, so it's hard to imagine that they are so confident that this one will based on the name. Then again 1930s LA may end up cheaper for them to replicate than 1800s London, Africa, and the wild west. We'll see. I'll give it a shot.

The whole of the final season was a betrayal of everything that had come before in the first two seasons. I understood that they ended it as they did because the director wanted to move onto other things.
