So apparently, guys like Jose Altuve and that prick Alex Bregman were wearing some sort of device on their shoulders which would buzz when their guy out in the bullpens picked up certain signs.
There was a playoff game where Altuve hit a game-winning home run, was mobbed by his teammates and made damn sure that his jersey wasn't ripped off, a common thing that happens in these celebrations. Altuve told the Fox reporter that he didn't want his jersey torn off because he didn't want to get into trouble with his wife at home.
While he isn't exactly who you would want on a witness stand, Trevor Baurer has tweeted out that he had heard that the Astros were doing this shit.
Wow.....
This is getting more out of control every day. I've never been one for stripping titles away from teams, but I'm starting to think that this is exactly what should happen, to both the 2017 Astros and the 2018 Red Sox. To have these titles washed away to blank spaces in the record books may be the kind of thing to get teams to avoid doing this crap.
Baseball has had more than its share of black eyes over the years, but this may be the worst of all. Bad times for America's greatest game.

I miss the old days when guys were just on amphetamines. Simpler times, my friend, simpler times. Gee, who would have guessed that having video screens and Apple watches in dugouts could ever lead to cheating? I'm shocked. That would be like thinking that doing all of your financial matters on a cellphone might lead to identity theft. Who would have thought?

Bregman was my franchise keeper from last year. He's gonna suck this year.

Altuve’s agent, Scott Boras, issued a statement to Sports Illustrated, denying the allegations:
“Jose Altuve called me and said he wants it known that he has never, ever worn an electronic device in a major league game – ever. He never received any form – of a trigger or any information – via an electronic product that was on his body or in his uniform. He has never worn any electronic device. Ever.”
Well, case closed!

Were they doing this in the 2019 WS as well? Well, they were 0-4 at home, so probably not.

Were they doing this in the 2019 WS as well? Well, they were 0-4 at home, so probably not. True, but it could be that the Nats were simply playing better than them even with their cheating. They were facing three of the best pitchers in the league with Sherzer arguably the best MLB pitcher.

Ya Altuve goes into the Atros' tunnel after that walkoff homerun to change into his championship t-shirt. Meanwhile there's lots of pics of him on his wife's Instagram account shirtless.

As much as I love Pardon the Interruption, the reaction to all of this by Michael Wilbon is pretty amazing. Basically, he is saying this is no big deal and folks who are talking about buzzers and Altuve's jersey are the same type of folks who believe in aliens and the Earth being flat.
I find it kind of insulting to think that a respected "journalist" would just shrug something like this off. Not much different than media members fawning over McGwire and Sosa in 1998.
I wonder if Wilbon would be so flippant if his beloved Cubs had been screwed over by the Astros.....or maybe he knows things about the Cubs and would prefer to treat this like a non-story.
