I have found that there are several foods that I prefer store bought rather than homemade. My choices are frozen waffles, I can toast them to the crispness that I like, I don't like homemade waffles, they are too doughy for me. I also prefer Stouffers Meatloaf, Stouffers Stuffed Green Peppers, Stouffers Macaroni and Cheese, Fifth Avenue stuffed cabbage, Barber's Chicken Kiev , Bob Evans mashed potatoes and Market Side herbed flavored stuffing, all these taste better to me than homemade. I do like homemade soup (except Chicken Noodle, don't like chicken noodle) as long as I don't make it. Of course homemade baked goods are better as long as I don't try to bake. I love when I receive home baked cake or cookies as a gift.

i like most everything stouffers makes, especially the stuffed peppers.as for stuffed cabbage rolls i get them made by a local polish deli, calling them galumpki,$28 for 16,the only way they make 'em,and you have to order two days in advance, but oh my,they are worth the wait and price.as for canned or premade neither shoprite nor walmart ( the main markets we use) have them listed on their websites as available right now.i'm going to check out amazon or other online places since this topic suddenly has me craving some

I have been criticized for making them too big. Never tried Stouffers. I am not likely to find a local Polish deli either. You must live in Pennsylvania.

In the Chicago area I could find them at a Polish or Lithuanian shop or deli. I was mistaken, the galumpskis I buy at Publix here in Alabama are made by Park Avenue, not Fifth Avenue . They are very popular. I pay $8.99 for 4 large galumskis and they are in the refrigerated section of the produce dept. where they have premade sandwiches and meals. Good stuff!

egg mcmuffins came to mind when I read llanwydd's reply.
but store bought things that are easy are delicious!
I had my daughter and her husband visit for a week or so. I had to prepare (or have the fixings for breakfast and snacks) and I was pooped! It is so much work to cook meals ! Normally, My husband and I have toast for breakfast, an easy sandwich for lunch, and one meal that I prepare. And that is nothing huge. Maybe pork steaks, a starch and a veggie. Pretty minimal. I cannot believe I cooked for years. lol
so to answer the thread: anything I don't have to prepare!

I love a great Caesar dressing, but I've never been able to do one that's "just right," at home. I've tried various oils, egg VS no egg, whisks VS blenders ... not right. Girard's Caesar dressing is delicious. OK, so I have to bow to a few chemicals, which I can't identify or pronounce. I don't think that a little bottled salad dressing wreaks havoc on humanity.

I make my own golumpki. I have been criticized for making them too big. Never tried Stouffers. I am not likely to find a local Polish deli either. You must live in Pennsylvania. sorta close, but no.Atlantic City. on a somewhat related note yesterday i searched walmart for stuffed cabbage and didn't find any.this morning i got an email from there specifically pointing out "Tamek' brand(?) 14.8 oz canned stuffed cabbage,$5.16.now,what gave me a bit of a shiver was that when i searched i didn't log in to my walmart account, just did a general search but they somehow knew it was me. this stuff is only available for online purchase but i won't buy $35 worth of something i never tried for free shipping, but i'm gonna see if i can order it for in store pickup to avoid shipping. Edit: i just logged into my acct to see my options. 1,no in store pickup 2,ordered 1 can to see how much delivery would be and got "OUT OF STOCK"....WTF?

I wish Schwan's would start making stuffed cabbage rolls. Lean Cuisine used to have stuffed cabbage rolls = they were ok. Sometimes Rouses has them at their hot food counter but not too often. The Park Avenue Brand is good, I just wish they would have a little extra cabbage on the side. I tried making them once - yuck, they didn't taste too good and were a pain in the ass to make.

WKM, that made me think of another one, which I don't think is marketed any more. Swanson's made/makes a wonderful creamed spinach, but I have seen it (or looked for it), for a long time. I don't even know if Swanson's is still in business. I was never successful at making it. It's wasn't complicated ... but it wasn't good, either.
Now, I want some. I'll look when I'm in the market.

Yeah, I think that Swanson's might be out of business ... or swallowed by some other huge company. I'll check out Green Giant.

I was half-joking about Pennsylvania but there is an enormous Polish-American population in northeast PA. I lived there for a while many years ago. You could get pierogis in most restaurants. I often cook for guests and I have been kidded by one Polish-American about my golumpki. "Mini meatloafs" he called them. I used to make them too big. I still have never bought any so I have to guess what they should taste like. I go to Youtube for recipes and there are plenty for golumpki.

I don't buy many prepared foods. I don't think I could make these: I can't seem to bread fish well. For some reason, I can't seem to cook or steam broccoli the way I get it out. It always has an overpowering flavor.
