Today we commemorate St Vincent of Saragossa. A Christian fella, was persecuted during the Diocletian Persecutions circa 304 AD. Tortured a lot, then thrown in a cell... Converted his jailer whilst there. Was finally offered release if he renounced his faith... he declined. They had him killed, and his body placed in a field, to be eaten by wild animals... However, it is said ravens stood watch over his corpse, and wouldn't let anything eat it. So they tied a millstone round his neck, and had some sailors take his body out to sea, to be dumped, and eaten by the fishes... This didn't work either, his body washed up before the sailors had even returned to shore. They finally decided to let Vincent have a proper burial. Ravens also watched over his burial place. When the Moors came to Spain they called the church the 'Church of the Ravens'. Patron saint of wine and winemakers... Cheers 🍷

Patron saint of ravens might be more apt! It would be appropriate... But St Kevin of Ireland already has that job.
