Never been to one. It would be cool to meet some celebrities even though they charge for autographs/photos.

No. Never. Don't think I'd really be that interested in going to one to be honest. Well, maybe if someone famous whom I really like was guaranteed to show up.

So have you ever been at a convention? I have never been at one I attended national professional conventions for two year, one in New Orleans and one in San Francisco. Then the early 2000s tech crash occurred and nearly bankrupted the city I worked for so traveling expenses were right out. Attended (with my two sons who were 9 and 7 at the time) the huge Doctor Who convention in Chicago (second largest for Doctor Who fans in the U.S.) called Tardis 21 in November 1984. Four of the six Doctors attended (William Hartnell was dead and Tom Baker wasn’t having anything to do with fandom) plus companions from all eras. The last season for Doctor #5 (Peter Davison) hadn’t played in the U.S. but Tardis attendees got a preview of Resurrection of the Daleks. We went back the next November for Tardis 22. That year I did some cosplay before there ever was such a word. The first day I went as the Second Doctor. Both of my boys wore long Fourth Doctor scarfs. The Second Doctor (Patrick Troughton) The Fourth Doctor scarf

I've attended several, in San Antonio, Austin, and Houston. I've met William Shatner, Peter "Chewbacca" Mayhew, James Marsters, Stan Lee, George Takei, Edward James Olmos and most of the primary cast of Battlestar Galactica (old and new), Kathy "Land of the Lost" Coleman, plus I've also seen Lou Ferrigno, Bruce Campbell, Patrick Stewart, Sean Astin, Ray Park, and others I'm probably forgetting already.

I have actually always wanted to go to a " STAR TREK" Convention. The annual one in Las Vegas each year does look like a lot of fun.

I went to Comicon a couple of times a few years ago when my oldest son used to sell books at them. I quite enjoyed the first one because I got to see Tom Baker and get his autograph, but it was very crowded and hectic. But in March I am going to the Talking Pictures convention in St Albans, which I imagine will be a more sedate affair.

I went to Cleveland wizard con last year, and a few much smaller horror conventions over the years. Personally I find the horror conventions to be depressing, they don't get a lot of traffic so it's a lot of venders just trying to guilt trip you into buying stuff, and you see irrelevant actors from old horror movies just sitting around bored waiting for someone to come pay for their autograph. Once, I saw Dan Hicks (Evil Dead 2, Intruder, Darkman) sitting at his booth looking so sad and felt obligated to go get his autograph because I love him in those movies. I went to the Synapse Home Video booth and asked them if they had the Intruder blu-ray, which I already own, but they were sold out. Wizard Con was a fun experience that I'd recommend seeking out if there's a reasonably sized city in your area. It's 90% merchandise booths filled with stuff you don't need or want, but the cosplay culture makes for good people watching. I went to several panels, including a Q+A with Sean Astin which I enjoyed a lot, and it was cool just seeing these celebrities walking around. Jason Momoa walked right by me and my girlfriend. Like I said earlier, I'm not inclined to pay to meet celebrities (unless they look really sad), but it's a fun time.

I have been to the Montreal ComicCon twice. I remember seeing Nathan Fillion, Gillian Anderson (Scully from the X-Files) and Nicole de Boer (Ezri Dax from Deep Space 9) speak.
It's fun but it's not something that I would do every year. I might go again in the future depending on who the guest stars are.
I would jump at the chance of going to the San Diego ComicCon if someone offered me tickets! I don't care enough to actually go to the trouble of procuring said tickets, which are apparently nearly impossible to obtain.

Many......Monsterpalooza / Son of Monsterpalooza and Designercon every year..Went to several Star Trek cons in the 90's and SDCC before it exploded and morphed into the behemoth it is now..bunch of different horror themed cons over the years..
They can be fun. Cool exhibits and interesting stuff to buy, at most..Celebs can be fun and have met some real nice ones..(Angus Scrimm and Peter Mayhew might be the most pleasant (Both sadly passed) and Walter Koenig might be the crabbiest) ..Got chewed out by Mark Hamill at a signing, because he thought I was a collectibles dealer rather than a fan (Didn't want personalization on some movie posters I was getting signed by some of the SW cast) which was funny..

I got autographs from Stan Lee, Will Shatner, George Takei, Peter Mayhew, James Marsters and got both autographs and pictures with Kathy Coleman and Dirk "Starbuck" Benedict! A real thrill meeting these childhood heroes. Most of them were really nice, but Stan Lee and Peter Mayhew were basically "hello, here's your autograph, next!"

OT once, at a ferry boat that had a convention capable room. the elder employees was so drunk that they had to ask the important question, over and over for 6 and a half hours. Truth is, still OT, those elder employees wanted young employees to be their personal chaffeurs so they could be drunk while on duty. I belonged to a new generation, and 5 others, we didn't wan't to drive around old drunks.

I went to a SF convention and a writer's convention. Very lowkey, not corporate-sponsored, no celebrities. The most interesting thing in the SF convention was a table of kaiju models, it was that low-key. One room was playing Transformers the Movie on a tv--no one was watching.
