.......sweepstakes, raffle, lottery or promotional giveaway ?? We've all entered drawings or contests that offered a variety of prizes, and sometimes been automatically "entered" in contests that we were sometimes aware of, and sometimes not (for instance, the type of 'giveaway' promotion that a credit card company might run, where every time you use your credit card you have a chance of "winning"). Regardless of the type of contest you may have entered yourself, or been automatically entered in by doing/buying/using something else, have you ever won anything notable in any of these types of promotional contests ?? In third grade, I won the Halloween class pumpkin by coming closest in guessing the number of seeds it had.
That's pretty much it.

I won a Sony Walkman 2 and for a time seemed to be the only person in London who had one.
Of course only a retro nut would use one of those things nowadays.

Not huge but $50 gift certificate and a couple of books in trivia contests and assorted gift cards totaling about $75 in random drawings.

The most notable item that I won in a raffle was a customized jersey of my favourite player on the hockey team that I follow.
The jersey giveaway is sponsored by a local pharmacy. The owner emailed me - asking me to give him a call. So, I immediately called him.
He said I had won a customized jersey. He just needed to know which player and his number I would like on the back.
It was presented to me at the halfway point of the 3rd period of the next game. About that game, it was the last game at the arena for the team because they won the league championship that night.
I get a jersey, and the team won the league championship.
Life....is good.

We won an iPad a while back. We played with it for a couple of days and ended up putting in the man draw for about 4 years because we couldn't think of a use for it. I dug it out to use the IMDB app when watching films and it now lives on the arm of my chair in the living room and is used nightly but only for the IMDB app otherwise it would still be in the draw

I won a $100 Amazon gc from GameFaq. I reviewed all my NES & SNES Classic games, & they entered me in a draw for being a frequent contributor at the time.

My grandfather worked for Shell Oil for decades. Every year Shell would release a safety calendar with a theme, and kids of employees or retirees could draw a picture related to the theme (that particular year was fire prevention) and I won. My picture was one of the months for that next year's calendar. I got a $100 savings bond which seemed like a big deal for a 10 year old. I didn't wait for it to fully mature (think it was 10 years).
About 10 years ago I won a Valvoline Oil contest by buying oil (I change my own oil) and submitting the proof of purchase. I won the 3rd place price of a $100 Visa gift card. I think 1st place was a Chevy Avalanche.

Nothing of high value but here is a list from the top of my mind: . Third prize from a Maynards ( candyfunhouse.ca/collections/maynards-candy) contest, which meant a basket holding about 100$ worth of 355g bags. It was nice but somehow they added more Cherry blasters and wine gums than fuzzy peaches or Swedish berries or gummy bears. . A Kolorkin ( www.kolorkins.com/) for a drawing contest. Snap from that lineup. . A t-shirt and signed card from a popular early 90's kid show in Quebec. . Otherwise prizes up to 75$ at the lottery.

Along that same line:
Back in the mid-80s, family was at a grocery store. There was a raffle to win a bag full of swag. Diet Pepsi was the sponsor. The swag all came in a duffel bag with the Diet Pepsi logo on it.
I put my information down on a ballot. My brother wanted to enter too, so as a larf, my father put a ballot in - putting my brother's name.
A few weeks later, we get a phone call. The person wants to speak to my brother. We thought....who would want to speak directly to him? He was about 4 or 5 at the time.
He had won the swag bag!
As well, I do remember winning a prize basket about 10 years ago. Filled with alcohol and gift cards. I got a LOT of use out of the gift cards.

I won 215 in a 50-50 drawing at one of my nephew's hockey tournaments when he was about 12. Kid broke his stick that cost 200 5 minutes later, so with tax I think the net was a dollar, lol.

I entered an online Christmas giveaway once called the 12 days of Christmas to win hair products.
The prizes were various hair products from different high end companies. On one day someone could win a bundle that included shampoo, conditioner and a styling product and another day someone else could win a hair dryer, the next day someone else could win a flat iron, etc...
So on the 13th day the grand prize winner would win every prize from each of the 12 days which was approximately valued at about $1,000. Much to my surprise, I was the grand prize winner.
Funny thing is when I received the email notifying me I won, I almost didn't open it because I thought it was spam. I left it unread for a few days and for whatever reason I decided to finally open it. That day I opened it was the very last day I had in order to claim my prize. I made it just in time.

In HS I won a free milkshake from the local Dairy Queen, the girl was just flirting but I was too thick to understand that.
Couple of years ago I won $10,000 in a sweepstakes. I thought it was a scam because they emailed telling me I won and asked for a bunch of personal information, but I had entered the sweepstakes so I called the company and they told me the email was a scam. I called again the next day and got transferred around and eventually found someone who told me the sweepstakes were handled by an outside agency and to contact them. I did and it was real. They came to my house, brought balloons and a giant check, took pictures, and gave me a real check. I didn't tell anyone IRL.
