Never did figure out why he thinks he's insulting someone by telling them to enjoy their lives. Neither did I. Why do you interpret it as an insult? Well you do use it in a derogatory manner.

Yay, we reached the "Erjen runs out of answers and retreats" part of the thread really quickly this time! You're slipping, mate. Never did figure out why he thinks he's insulting someone by telling them to enjoy their lives. Because he's an imbecile.

That doesn't really change what I said. Further, the larger point is that religion and science have no reason to displace each other.

Well you do use it in a derogatory manner. That's your perception. Yeah it is pretty much everyone's perception. It is not just the enjoy your life part but what you include with it. It us what you do. Especially when run out of retorts, you insult. You know it. But that is your other go to, pretend you do not mean what you said or play ignore it.

tpfkar Except your need to steer away from it, or denigrate it, or call it "not science", "ridiculous notion", etc., as motivated by your religion. The destruction of the wicked is literal and as a collective they make up the heavens and the earth that people think don't change.

None of those - I'm completely agnostic; I simply suspend judgement about the existence and nature of god. I suppose "beyond human understanding" might fit my attitude, provided that's not taken to imply that I think that god exists.

It's funny (ironic) how only 5 out of 18 people who've replied so far even believe in God, yet non-believers seem intent on discussing him/it. I wonder what drives the interest to people who have no belief?

tpfkar Quite the denial. I would say that God wouldn't care one way or another as long as they are treated fairly...which is why there is instruction on it to begin with. The fact is that a slave could be an overseer in the congregation his master goes to because Scripture makes pretty clear that everyone has equal rights within the church if not in society.

Would you rather I lie and say science is not science? I can help further whatever cause you're on buddy!

tpfkar Why don't you deny the whole post instead of trying to weasel around some more on some spineless technicality? Didn't suggest you've said the words "science is not science", although I wouldn't put it past you. But you've time and again denied science done, tried to conflate it, and called it "not science", motivated strictly by your religion. My "cause" is pretty much having a good chuckle, and you are aces for that, pal on buddy . Heyyy, bud-dy!

I find it interesting that some people would feel that God is beyond human understanding and yet still believe in God.
I can't believe something that is beyond human understanding. All I can think is that we don't know what the "f" we're even talking about when we mention it.

I wonder what drives the interest to people who have no belief? In my case it is that I grew up in a very religious family and was compelled to go to church every Sunday in my childhood. Also there's the fact that religion is a major influence in politics in many countries of the world. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

What is your perception of God? Many people believe Jesus became human at some point in time (up to some other point?). There is considerable confusion though whether he was a "god," merely the "son" of one, or acting in the stead of one. The "likeness" of his father to a human is often considered far less graphic. The people who consider Jesus a god often have a tendency to expect an anthropomorphic one.
