So the sound of George Lucas screaming, huh? Sounds...fitting. For those that may not know, Lucas was previously in Episode 3 in two different ways. One is physically as a character before the Opera scene involving Anakin and Palpatine. He can be seen standing with his real life daughter. The second is his real life cough was used as General Grevious' laborious cough in the movie. Lucas had a cough at the time they were in post-production and they thought it would be cool to have Lucas provide the cough himself.

For good or for worse, the character was not voiced by Lucas though.

No, I didn't say Lucas voiced General Grievious in Episode 3. He didn't. Matthew Wood voiced General Grievous. What I said is that George Lucas provided General Grievous' labored cough in Episode 3. The reason was that Lucas was sick while Episode 3 was in post-production, so either Ben Burtt or Matthew Wood (I can't remember now) thought it would be cool to record Lucas' awful cough he had at the time for the character.

The Lucas cough episode is undisputed; the 2-D clone wars show explained the cough by M Windu Force crushing Grievous' lungs during the (faux) abduction of Palpatine.
