It was over run by trolls and other idiots. Only loss was the individual film and tv show boards, that and Rohan, Salter, hamster etc. That and the lack of opportunity for this forum to grow in numbers. Even actor/ director boards were over run by idiots.

I prefer this forum because of certain features such as the ability to like posts and all, the thing that I miss about the old IMDB forums is that every movie-tv show-actor had their own board so there was a board for everything. I miss all the individual boards, but notice no real difference between this board and the old IMDb Sports board. I thought we could like posts on IMDb near the end?And I don't remember trolls becoming anywhere near that big of a deal over there.

I missed them a lot at first but then this place and MovieChat filled the void.

I don’t really miss the last incarnation of the IMDB boards...but circa 2005-2008...the Religion/POTC board had a solid community. I miss that at times. But I missed that back when the IMDB boards were still active.
I honestly think I’m more active on the Film and Tv boards here than I ever was on old IMDB and I always preferred that kind of talk. I mean there’s a reason I came to a movie message board in the first place right?

Yeah the individual boards were great, but I think having fewer boards has actually helped this place feel like a closer community. It has its share of idiots but it's nothing like the old IMDb in that regard. Can't believe it's been three years, I think I've been posting here longer than I was on the original sports board. I joined IMDb in 2004 but it took me 10 years to start posting on the sports board.

The trolls on the sports board weren't so bad, but on other boards you really couldn't have any semblance of a conversation. From what I recall, Film General was really bad and individual actor boards would basically become breeding grounds for just the worst of what the internet has to offer. Although I will say that the troll on FG who hated Reese Witherspoon was the best. That's ALL he was able to talk about. Basically AH Fan but without the idiotic made up backstory and less annoying.

I think the problem became that they would each have dozens of different accounts and they would hijack threads and spam every board so even if you ignored one, 2 more would take its place and eventually all legit discussion would simply dissipate. Aye Lewis always did that shit, Butters too. Eventually it just becomes annoying and people will find other ways to pass the time.

Yeah, I can kind of see that. * If I'm having this discussion with you, and there's dozens of troll comments in between our comments, and dozens of new, pointless threads popping up/being bumped, that eventually it's easier to move on than try to keep up with anything. *Astros are probably going to be dealing with a similar amount of dedication to mocking them.
