my parents were born in the 50s and grew up in the 60s, 70s, and 80s they had everything MTV, Drive In theatres, Sex, etc they even had two kids me and My Sister My sister was born in 82 I was born in 91
Ive never really been interested in dating, getting married or having kids only two things I like doing is going to movies and college football games. I think it kind of frustrates my dad that im not interested in the things he was interested in as a kid and teenager, he asked me about two years ago "Don't you ever wanna get married or have kids?" And my response was "Well actually to be honest I don't even think about stuff like that!" My Sister has four Daughters
I was never even really interested in getting a drivers license or learners permit only reason I finally conceded and got both was because my Dad kept asking me "Son don't you wanna be able to drive and go on Dates?" and again my response was "I don't even think about stuff like that" I finally got my Learner Permit in the Spring of 09 which was (My Junior year of Highschool) and my drivers license in the Spring of 10 (My Senior year of Highschool) only reason I got both was because I was tired of him begging me to get them
im soon to be 29 this December (2020) next December (2021) I will be 30 so who knows I may change my stance on marriage, dating, kids etc as I continue to grow older

Dad was very sporty as a youth and young man. He was especially keen on soccer. I've never been the sporty type myself. On the other hand, I'm a big movie buff, but he's not into movies at all and wouldn't be able to identify many major actors.
Mum likes traditional Irish music, but it's not my cup of tea. She's also very keen on medical shows, which I can be a tad squeamish about.

My parents were both big smokers, and my dad also drank and gambled a lot. I'll have the occasional drink if I'm on a date or it's the holidays or something, but otherwise I'm opposed to all of it. Partly from watching them.
My dad also loves football. Hate it.
As for kids, I guess that's one of them. I'm too selfish and impatient to have a kid. It'd be bad for me, and worse for them.

Not much, I idolized my parents and liked the same things they liked, Elvis, old country music, hunting, fishing, drinking, partying, spending time outdoors, racing, football. Sadly I don't do many of those things anymore

I'm not sure where you live, but I do not understand not wanting to get a driver's license. It gives you mobility and freedom. I kind of see driving as a necessary chore.

God, I can't TELL you how many times my dad and I went round and round about this one.......his 'saying' was that you couldn't win if you didn't have at least one ticket.......which I admitted was correct, but I (STUPIDLY) tried to point out the fact that he would NEVER win (and, other than a few couple-buck winners occasionally, he never did), given the fact that doing so would have meant he would have had to have beaten odds GREATER than 100 million to one, and also (again, STUPIDLY) tried to remind him of the hundreds, if not THOUSANDS of total dollars he had wasted over the decades he spent buying losing lottery tickets. But it didn't matter.......just like it didn't matter to me that no matter what HE said, I would NEVER start throwing my money away doing the same thing he was. Fortunately, I eventually 'got it', and started backing off the 'diatribes' about him wasting his money, a number of years before he died (in fact, when he could no longer drive, and was (mostly) home-bound, guess who was the guy who would go every week and get him his two lottery tickets (even though it KILLED me to do it! )). It finally occurred to me that it wasn't the lottery tickets themselves he was spending his money on, it was REALLY just the thought that one day he could actually win the lottery that he was spending all that money on (never mind the fact that it was HIS money he was spending, and he obviously had the right to "waste" it on anything and everything he wanted.....which I ALWAYS acknowledged)....and that thought alone, to him, was WELL worth all the money he ever spent on them. SAVE FERRIS

In the old days, one needed a partner to survive. And because of the lack of population, we needed more people. So having kids made sense. Also as kids grew, they could and would help around the house, farm, ranch, etc. And people only lived to 30 or 40 years old. So spending the rest of your life with anybody wasn't that long. Then more recently, women needed to get married because they needed somebody to take care of them. Women couldn't work. But now, women are more educated, ambitious, successful and they make more money. The world is over populated. And people live routinely to their 80s. And because of modern technology, people are still dating into their 60s. So, who wants to spend 40 to 60 years with the same person?

Growing up my dad liked to hunt and fish. I was never really into those things. I don't mind fishing, but I have to be catching fish. If I'm not my patience runs out pretty quick.
