I have a question that other users may also be wondering about.
On the IMDb I stayed logged in at all times. Since no one else uses this computer, it wasn't a problem.
However, this site, unlike the IMDb, displays online status. I suspect that, if I never logged out, IMDB v2.0 would say I was logged in 24 hours a day.
I suspect that "power users" of this site both stay logged in and set their online status to "invisible".
Would you recommend that users login and logout each time they use the site? That's what I've been doing, but it's a bit of a pain.

the board works on the users on the last 24 hours. If you logged in the last 24 hours, it's going to show up on the bottom irregardless.

I'll try it later with a dummy account and second computer and let you know.

While still logged in, I closed Seamonkey, and then opened the site in Internet Explorer and it showed me on the "users online" list. I then relaunched Seamonkey and opened the site, but I had to log back in. Perhaps if I logged in with the "remember me" checkbox checked I would get a different result.

I'm sorry, I haven't had a chance to really look into this yet. I did, however, log in with a dummy account on my cell phone and closed the browser without logging out. The dummy account remained in the users online list for several minutes before dropping off. It could be a matter of being inactive for a certain amount of time as opposed to actually being logged in, as this 10-year old support thread suggests.

alpha128: After some trial and error, I believe it's a matter of inactivity. I logged into a dummy account on one computer and monitored it from this account on another. Logging out moved the dummy from Users Online to Users Online in the Last 24 Hours. Being idle for 15 minutes did the same regardless of whether I checked "remember me," closed the browser/tab or left them open. This time limit agrees with the following ProBoards v4 help page: www.proboards.com/forum-help-guide/forum-info-center"Users Online displays statistics for users currently active on the forum and provides a count of forum staff members, regular members, and guests [...] It also displays members active within the last 15 minutes."I hope that answers your question.

It does answer my question. Thank you for taking the time to research this.
