Hi, I need to work for a few hours every day, and I find it easier to work to music. but lately I feel like i have heard everything or cannot find anything that would suit the purpose.
Can you please recommend something that you like and that is
- at least 30 minutes long (ideal length is about an hour), can be a playlist or an album or long song or concert, doesnt matter. - not aggressive or violent, no disturbing lyrics about rape, murder, suicide, bitch here bitch there.. this is important to me right now. - is a good mood music, meaning it works well as a background not the main focus, so for example The Wall by Pink Floyd is too expressive and would take away my focus from work, even though I love it. - is not too depressing- again I will use the Wall as an example. While I love the Pink Floyd, there are days when I simply cant listen to it, same with Radiohead, its just too much of a downer.
It can be music from hundreds years ago, a few decades back, or modern. Instrumental or voices, doesnt matter. Anything goes really as far as style, language or genre as long as it respects the above.
I will give a chance to any/all recommendations and GREATLY appreciate your effort and time spent on it.
Thank you.
N.

Try Hebe Tien, G.E.M., and Angela Zhang. You can find playlists with their songs on YouTube.
Their music is generally light and uplifting, and the fact they sing in Mandarin is a plus since that makes the voice another instrument and does not distract with heavy lyrics.
Other good choices are two cover artists, Raon Lee (Korean) and Joyce Chu (Malaysian).
If you prefer male vocals, you might try Jay Chou, Jackie Chan (yes, that Jackie Chan), or J.J. Lin.

Nora,
Try going to YouTube, and entering "Venice Live Camera," in the search bar. Select the option that is presented as 4 views of Venice, Italy. It looks like 4 postcards.
It's a "24/7," video/music loop. The music is a long loop ... probably several hours, and mostly Vivaldi, and the peers of his period. When you get sick of it, listen to something else. But, know that it will be there, when you go back. I love it.
The site is a promotion for travelers to return to Venice when this whole mess is behind it. The video is a live stream, and features views from 4 hotels in Venice. It's kind of nice, but gets boring, after a time. Also, because it's in real time, light changes. So it's dark in Venice, now, while it's early afternoon on the U.S. west coast. However, there's some beauty in the reflection of the lights on the water. There is no verbal/vocal interruption ... just music.
There's also a little chat, going on on the side. I ignore that, and/or you can hide it.
I've been using it as a "sometimes" music source, for a few days.
Add Edit: With this post, I became an ELITE member! I'm so excited ... I have 5 blue stars!!

All the music I own won't work well as a background. It all pretty much demands you are an active participant.

I would put in a suggestion for probably my favorite album. "Quebec" by Ween. I actually discovered how great this was while using it as background music while working. It definitely has moments that made me think "What the hell am I even listening to?" For me, it gets my creative sense working, and has a pretty positive tone.
If you give it a shot, might wanna skip the first song. They seem to think it would be funny to open the album with a Motorhead tribute with the guitarist singing. Just an odd choice, and makes it hard to say to someone "Check this album out..."
