Saw this as a teenager in syndication back in the late 1970's, was pretty hooked on it--It was so popular in the New York area, that it was shown at 6 pm, 7 pm and 11 pm

The odd couple was one of my favorite shows. It made me a Tony Randall fan. Interesting. I first saw Randall in Seven Faces of Doctor Lao--which is, for better or worse, still one of my favorite movies--and I still think it has his best performance. I never liked his Felix Ungar as much as Jack Lemmon's--Lemmon made Felix more human, more relatable, I think--but he's still fine, and very funny. I like both Matthau and Klugman's Oscars and don't really prefer one to the other.

The interesting thing is that Neil Simon thought that Klugman/Randall did a better job with his play than he did.

Klugman never sold me after Matthau defined the role.

Gave it an 8. It would be just a high 7, but the one moment that I still find hilarious, and think about, that makes it an 8 is when Felix was his own lawyer in court, and he grilled Oscar and said "I think I speak for everyone here when I say 'you make me sick',", and then a moment later, he needs Oscar to give him an endorsement, and Oscar comes back with the same line. Still cracks me up to think about it.
