I never realized this, and it's a shame the characters never really realized it, but Anne is a great success story for Buffy. A former vampire cultist, turned teen runaway, who started a shelter to help teen runaways. And she never deviated from that path. We only get a few glimpses of her, but it's obvious she's genuine and sincere in her desire to help those less fortunate. She is the real world version of what Angel tries to be. A champion for the people. I don't think she gets enough recognition for what she does.
It's amazing what a positive influence Buffy had on her, and it would've been nice if Buffy could've seen what became of her. Sort of a reaffirmation that she is doing good work. That she can help normal people find a positive path, not just the vampires and demons of the world.

'Anne' was one of only three episodes that I didn't like in Season 3 of BtVS (though I did enjoy Oz's failed attempt at throwing a stake all dramatic-like at an escaping vampire).
However, I did kind of like the fact that Joss brought the character of Anne back (after seemingly being only a one episode character in Season 2's 'Lie to Me'), then brought her back again in Season 2 of AtS and the series final. Obviously he saw something he liked in the actress, Julia Lee, and decided to give her more screen time. I appreciated that he would do this from time to time with certain actresses/actors who he seemed to like.
I really liked Anne's interaction with both Angel and Gunn. Given that she was only in a small number of episodes, it was quite nice to see her have her own sort of 'mini arc' and that she grew as a character.

I totally agree, Caleb! The character of Anne was fantastic and I love that you pointed out that she is a real life version of what Angel wants to be; I had never noticed that before, or it didn't dawn on me, lol. I wish we could have seen more of her and I am so glad she got to cameo in the Angel series finale. We know that the major characters (Angel, Cordy, Wesley, Faith, etc.) had major character growth and development over the course of both shows, but it is so nice to see this extended to Anne, a very minor character, as well.
While I agree with Chalice that Anne is not my favorite episode of season 3, it does have an interesting story line and I like how the Scoobies work together to kill vamps and monsters to keep Sunnydale safe and whatnot.

Fun trivia: Julia Lee has been made part of Disneyland's Haunted Mansion. She's the attic ghost (Constance Hatchaway) who has offed all of her husbands (replacing the tragic bride with the beating heart killed by Captain Blood a.k.a. the "ghost host"--that's pretty deep into Disney lore there!). I have to imagine that somebody at Disney must have known her from Buffy/Angel.
