A lot has changed. it is the highest grossing film but this is where things finally fell apart for the MCU. Many people who knew and cared about films has had enough of the shortcoming mcu movies. its weird, one year later and noone is talking about the film in the disney owned mass media. Based on the box office performance of Far From Home nothing fell apart. Barely any of the MCU fans have had enough of the MCU. Only delusional trolls like you and summers8 believe that. The only reason MCU hate was more intense since last year was because many people jumped on the whole Joker/Scorsese bandwagon. It's because of Covid-19 no one is talking about any movie from last year any more.

I can't believe people still champion the "high stakes" and "dark note ending" of IW. It was obvious the ending would be retconned by the next year, and it was, so how could you possibly give a shit about a bunch of characters taking a short dust vacation?
I also see a lot of complaining about Professor Hulk in Endgame. Was that really any worse than Erectile Dysfunctional Hulk in IW?
Obviously I prefer Endgame. You want stakes? It's been a year and Tony is still dead.

Gamora we know is dead Loki and Gamora were brought back through time travel. No one gives a rusty fuck about Vision and Heimdall. Widow was killed in Endgame so my point about it having actual stakes still stands.

It's been a year and Tony is still dead. Definitely. At least for me. Infinity War doesn't rule out that Hulk as we know him would return. Endgame ruled it out, but before then, it was entirely possible the reemergence of Hulk was something to look forward to in Endgame.
Saying this though, everything about Professor Hulk makes sense. He was needed to further the story. It couldn't work with Hulk in any other way, so there's nothing (in my opinion) that would have made that Hulk better. It's not missing anything. It's the direction they chose to go and my preference for green angry Hulk is more of a visceral senses-pleasing preference than an intellectual one.
I mean, I liked Infinity War more for plenty of reasons. That's not the same as saying Endgame was bad, or that there's a mile wide gap between them. I prefer one to the other by a slim margin and Hulk was definitely a factor. It had my preferred Hulk, my preferred Thor and preferred Thanos. Part of why Infinity War is so resonant (with me) is how subtle it is a movie about Thanos. He's easily the main character who drives all the action.
As for the dusting, I don't know for a fact they'd all be brought back. That's comic book reader stuff if they know the story. While the odds are likely, Infinity War leaves a lot of open-ended questions. Will they come back? How? Will they defeat Thanos? Thanos is smart. They could reason with him. There was a period where everything that seems obvious because it was resolved in Endgame wasn't obvious, and I was one of those people arguing it'd be better to keep them all dead for dramatic effect because that would make for a better story. I am not a Disney exec; killing off Black Panther and thus losing a billion on a sequel means nothing to me as a fan. It made for a thrilling final battle, but a part of me was disappointed they were all brought back to life.
It worked out, and it's probably the best version of itself for the direction they chose. With a different direction, it might have been more interesting.

MCU is evolving its characters so they are not stuck in one persona. Hulk is a simple stock character of the brute who smashes when called upon. That’s about all he does. With the exception of Banner’s now outside the narrative introduction (the one starring Edward Norton), he is a supporting character. And there’s a limited number of outcomes for this if Hulk remains in the role of the nervous scientist/uncontrollable Brute. However, if he is allowed to change, that increases his possible outcomes and makes way for another character to become the new Brute. Very true. I think that's called character development. They've already played out the Dr. Jekyl Mr Hyde angle. It's been milked dry. The character has to be taken in new directions to keep him interesting. I just hope his arm heals.
