Just imagine how many films based on this pandemic could be made. It wouldn't surprise me if scripts were being written as we speak. Maybe a Hallmark made-for-TV movie called Love in the Time of Coronavirus?? But whatever Hollywood comes up with, I hope that all the films show Trump as the conceited ass he is!

You know that Hallmark's first movie to deal with it will be "A Covid Christmas."

As long as Valerie Bertinelli is cast I'm happy.
A CGI'd Andy Serkis could play the Chinese bat.
Surviving cast memners from classic 70s disaster flics (Dunaway, Wagner, Hackman, Bisset, Michael Caine, Loren, Sheen, Simpson, Linda Blair et al) could all play victims

It’s gonna happen. Just like the movies they made after 9/11 or the Iraq War.

You know that Hallmark's first movie to deal with it will be "A Covid Christmas." Good one, Dog! BTW, other movies have dealt with epidemics and quarantines. For example, a portion of FOREVER AMBER (1947) dealt with an outbreak of bubonic plague. Do my fellow posters know any others?

From '36 thru '40, there was a minor (forgive me) outbreak of films featuring epidemics, quarantines and/or the related field of disease control as plot points: The Story Of Louis Pasteur; The Prisoner of Shark Island; The Citadel; Jezebel; Pacific Liner; The Rains Came; Vigil In the Night; Dr. Erlich's Magic Bullet; Untamed, for instance. I can never keep track of which disease was in which movie, be it plague, typhoid, yellow fever, cholera, the heartbreak of psoriasis or whatever.

Do my fellow posters know any others? also try IMPULSE from 1984 or so with Meg Tilly and (I think) a young Bill Paxton - not a disease exactly but the "infected" lose all their social inhibitions and simply do WTF they want all the time ... with predictably unpleasant consequences. best of all though this TV series from BBC 1975-77 was a colossal hit in which 99.98% of the global population croak... Most personable of those that didn't was Carolyn Seymour (far right)

You know that Hallmark's first movie to deal with it will be "A Covid Christmas." HE KNEW SHE’D BEEN NAUGHTY. SHE HAD NOWHERE TO HIDE. That sounds like a slasher version. We'll definitely need some of those. In the Hallmark one, a young woman, disillusioned with life in the big city, returns at Christmastime to her impossibly picturesque hometown to take up residence in the family home she's inherited, just in time to find herself in lockdown quarantine with the property's reclusive but handsome and sensitive caretaker who happens also to be a great cook. They fall in love while stuck in the house together and maintaining a six-foot separation at all times (thus emphasizing the chaste nature of their relationship). The holiday's saved when, on Christmas Eve, the town GP announces he's discovered a cure developed from - what else? - sap extracted from Christmas trees. And I do mean "sap."

How's this for a story line:
Agents from the FBI, the CIA, and Interpol join forces to locate the source of the COVID-19 virus. In the course of their investigation, they uncover evidence of a collusion between the presidents of Russia and the US to create a pandemic in order to seize control of all aspects of the country. However, their plan backfired when the Russians discovered that the POTUS regarded the whole situation as a big joke, and the crisis blew out of control with tens of thousands people dead. In the end, a number of Russian collaborators are arrested, and the POTUS is removed from office, stands trial, and is sentenced to life in prison without parole. Unfortunately, the agents could find no hard evidence against the president of Russia, so he escapes punishment. I would suggest Harrison Ford and Bruce Willis as the head agents, with Alec Baldwin as the POTUS.
Such a film would probably be classified as "cinema verite".

I don't know. A large-scale Hollywood exploitation of the pandemic seems unlikely to me. Just because movie-goers are already bored to death of the virus. I think the subject will always be more depressing than exciting.

The Swiss Family Robinson run up a quarantine flag to scare off pirates.

Howzabout this one, Dog:
BEN HERPES--A prominent Jewish family in Jerusalem is forced into quarantine by Pontius Pilate because of the coronavirus. Also quarantined are the family's servant Simonides and his daughter Esther. Judah and Esther give in to their urges in their close quarters, but unknown to Judah, Esther had previously slept with Messala and contracted genetal herpes which she passed onto Judah. Eventually, Jesus on the cross cured both COVID-19 and the herpes, but Judah dumped Esther and married Messala.
