NOT EXACTLY THE GARTH GAME #1
01) THE INTRODUCTION: HERE AT LONG LAST , MY FIRST ATTEMPT AT A GARTH STYLE GAME
02) THE SONG: (Vocals by ETHEL MERMAN)
THERE’S NO GARTH GAME
LIKE THIS GARTH GAME
LIKE NO GARTH GAME I KNOW
03) THE QUOTE: "THE PLAY’S THE THING” *********************************************************************
04) THE SET-UP: -- Alphabetically & numerically listed below in BLACK are 50 PERFORMERS, MANY of them career OSCARED (Winning or Nominated). -- Two of them can be matched in a unique way. -- Each of them played a leading or prominent role in a Broadway Original cast, or that same role in a Later Theatrical Feature Film based on that same play (no TV-Movies allowed in here). -There may be a different title for the film remake.
-There can only be one original broadway play, but the play may have been made into a film several times
05) THE CHALLENGE: -- Post the NUMBERED PERFORMERS, and list their CHARACTERS NAMES at the top.
Below post the two matched players and identify them as Original Broadway Play (OP)
Or Later film remake (LF ) -- A posting example is given below. -- Just ONE ANSWER per post, and only THREE CONSECUTIVE RESPONSES allowed before another player participates. -- Scores will appear below in PURPLE. -- Duplicate posts will be determined by the earlier time stamp. -- The PERFORMERS and NUMBERED TITLES will appear in RED when discovered, along with the name of the Player discovering them.
-- A 2-Point BONUS ROUND ('BR') will follow the completion of the regular Quiz ... 3-Plus Sign-ins required.
06) THE EXAMPLE:
29 Janet Leigh could be matched with
42 Chita Rivera
Place the NUMBERS, the PLAY and FILM TITLE , and the CHARACTER NAME (FULL NAME if given) in the Message Box first
Ex.: 29/42 Bye Bye Birdie Rose Alverez/Deleone
Place the TWO PERFORMERS Labeled OP or LF in the Message Box second Ex.: Chita Rivera OP Janet Leigh LF
07) THE EQUATIONS: a) Questions -- 30% Easy / 30% Challenging / 30% Difficult / 10% Impossible b) Answers -- 99% Absolutely Accurate / 01% Garth Gaffe (Advance Apology Extended) 08) THE NOTATIONS: NTA = Not the Answer / KP = Keep Pursuing (On the Right Track) / QS = Quit Searching (Down the Wrong Path) ** PLAYER'S NAME!! = Double Digit Club (DDC) Membership Post / LLS = Last Link Standing (Final Answer) 09) THE STATISTICS: 50 PERFORMERS / 25 Pairs/ **********************************************************************
10) THE QUIZMASTER'S MANIFESTO: -- The QM will always offer warm welcomes to incoming players, helpful hints for incorrect answers, and DDC acknowledgement. -- Beyond that, the Quizmaster may not always respond to every post. -- Not being unfriendly, just utilizing the time more efficiently by keeping the Scoreboard Up-To-Date (U-T-D). -- Besides, it's too boring to keep responding 'Yes' to every answer ... and too many posts may scare off potential players. -- The Scoreboard will tell the tale, but be patient about those updates as the QM thinks and types slowly. -- Do you want 'em fast or accurate ... I don't do both. -- Comments on Correct Answers (a player's first and sometimes after several attempts) will always be entered ALL IN CAPS!!! -- Only one Numbered Answer can be correct ... MINE! (It's good to be the Quizmaster). -- When posting traffic is heavy, Scores will be entered in groups of five, and incorrects (NTAs and 'Halfers') will be bundled. -- Be sure to number correctly to save wear and tear on the QM and his beleaguered Staff. -- IMPORTANT: Do not return to correct a previous post, as this vehicle cannot make U-turns. **********************************************************************
