I think it has been one of the biggest problems of my life. I just saw a video on the topic in an attempt to learn more about it and came to know that there may several different reasons for doing it.
My question to you is do you procrastinate and what you believe is the reason for doing so? You can also answer if you know someone who does that and what you believe is the reason for that.

Yes, very often. Why? Because it's easy.

Not as much as before. I guess it was similar to not paying off a credit card balance. There was the false security in feeling better in the interim while I put it out of mind and bought time; meanwhile, the to-do would accrue interest in the form of more stress ultimately than I would have faced, had I simply taken care of things earlier.

Yes, very often. Why? Because it's easy. I agree. Did you ever felt consequences of it outweigh the benefits? I have lately found it to be one thing that is worst about me. I am trying to change my habit but I guess it might take some time and some serious effort.

Based on your posts, you seem like a very reasonable and methodical person. I am glad to know you were once a procrastinator because it gives me a hope that I can also improve.

I never procrastinate.
Never.
If anything I am too obsessive and must do things right away.
This is just as much a problem as procrastinating.
Anyone out there well balanced in this respect?

I do procrastinate a lot, simply to "postpone the uncomfortable or difficult" because I am lazy, but have been getting better at it lately. I see procrastination as either a symptom of laziness and weak discipline (risk/reward ratio screwed up in the brain and preferring instant gratification, typical example is "one candy now instead of two tomorrow" mindset) OR Fear based procrastination (fear of failure, fear of losing control, etc etc) Which one do you think you fall to, more likely? I think once you understand the root of it for yourself, you can better address it.

As much as it might hurt me to accept that I have fears, I won't deny it anymore. I am scared of failing. I fear to do things that I can but don't because I lack confidence. I am telling it because I have seen that many things that I hesitated to do before and which I eventually did, I actually did quite well on them. An underlying cause could be the fact that I have struggled with sleep for years. I think since 2002. I am scared of the fact that I will not be able to sleep. I have till date never visited a doctor (procrastination?) because I thought I will be able to discipline myself and self solve all my problems. Things have improved significantly in the last 3 years but I did waste a lot of my time. I hope I can continue my improvement as I have in the last 3 years.

All the time. Mostly because I am bone idle but also because I have found that most problems sort themselves out if left alone

I was busy procrastinating about doing the taxes and was just about to settle down and get the idious task done when the TAXES NOW DUE JULY 15TH was casually mentioned on these boards. Never did see an "OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT" but Googled and it was confirmed. (yay ! ) Taxes still not done ... Plenty of time

Anything that absolutely has to get done now gets done now. Anything that doesn't waits...until it has to get done now.
I find it very convenient.

Yeah. I think it’s a mix of being lazy and knowing that I work very well under pressure.
Despite that, I now have a very hard time - physically - dealing with stress. So I’ve learned to stop procrastinating so much.

Is that a form of prioritising? to me this would present too big of a risk of not having time for all the things that need to be done now wen now comes, especially if u foreseen things happen/ come unexpected.

Why do it today when you can do it tomorrow? Quite.
As often as not someone will bustle up and do it for you, which makes them feel good and solves the problem for you
