KANSAS CITY CONFIDENTIAL - Except for some stock footage under the titles nothing is seen of KC and the story quickly moves away to California. I don't know where "confidential" comes in either.

Across the Pacific (1942) American spy film set on the eve of the entry of the United States into World War II. Directed first by John Huston, then by Vincent Sherman after Huston joined the forces. "Across the Pacific" may be the title but the narrative never actually gets there. It starts in New York City (Governors Island), moves to Canada, back to New York, and continues south along the US coast (North Atlantic Ocean) to the Caribbean Sea, where it ends at or near Balboa, Panama, still some 40 miles short of the Pacific. …

12 ANGRY MEN - There were at least a couple of them who weren't angry. Yes, but 10 Angry Men and 2 who were only Mildly Pissed Off is not such a catchy title.

A Walk In The Sun is about a very costly engagement in the Italian campaign.

Of the two Bogart/Astor/Greenstreet/Huston projects, this is the one I tend to watch more often, just for the sheer fun factor. Full of intrigue, witty banter, jeopardy, action and energy, it's a colorful romp from start to finish. Astor is irresistible, and it's among my three favorites of her performances. On second thought, make that four. No, actually five. Or maybe six. Well, ten or twelve...at least.

And Then There Were None (1945)-the Agatha Christie novel lives up to its title. The movie version does not end with none, which negates the whole point of the story.

Halloween H20 - the H in Halloween combined with it being the 20th anniversary of the first film thus "H20", but obviously that title just makes one think of water.

The 1944 cliffhanger serial “Zorro’s Black Whip” from Republic Pictures is 100% Zorro free. In the lawless Old West of Idaho (Idaho?), a crusading young newspaper man dons a black mask and fights crime as The Black Whip. Early in Chapter 1, he is mortally wounded so his sister Linda “Queen Of The Serials” Sterling takes his place behind the mask. Unusual at this time to have such an active woman action hero.

The Boogie Man Will Get You 1942, didn't have any boogie man, not even a boogie-woogie man. It had Boris Karloff and Peter Lorre though.

The title Jack's Back would lead someone getting ready to watch it without knowing the film's full story and the story of its making to think that they were about to watch a cheesy '80s slasher flick about a Jack The Ripper copycat made solely to exploit 1988's centennial of the actual Ripper slayings. It is in fact a neo- noir in which the hunt for a Jack The Ripper copycat is a parallel plot. The main plot concerns an ex-con, played by a young James Spader, setting out to solve the murder of his identical twin brother.
